Looks pretty freaky. Kind of along the same lines as Blair Witch except intentionally made more scary and with better effects. Good date movie if you want to share your seat with your date.

Blair Witch Project scared the poop out of me. It was in my head every time I went outside at night, which wasn't very often after seeing it..LOL
Looks pretty freaky. My girlfriend turns her head in all the best parts, but I'll still drag her to see it. :)

typical horror movies don't really do it for me either....but from what I've heard this is NOT a typical movie. People are reporting that the theaters were literally screaming for the last 5-10mins straight through to the credits.

I'll have to see this as well, I love paranormal stuff. It would also be nice to get scared from a movie once, the last time that happened was when I was 8.

Heh, I think the budget for the Blair Witch was 100,000, while this movie's budget was 11,000. Says a lot right there with this looking like it has better effects. (Steven Spielburg got involved with this and was going to remake it but decided on sticking with the original so... If HE likes it the way that it is, it's gotta be good.)

Watch The Descent with a good sound sytem and the lights completely out.
Not intellectually scary, but I definitely jumped out of my seat quite a few times during that movie.

Already have :) I don't remember if it made me jump, but I made my mom watch it and I've never seen her jump so many times in my life. I think she said she had nightmares about it.

I retract my earlier statement. Rotten Tomatoes tends to be a pretty darned good indicator of whether or not a movie will be good or not. Of course you have to take into consideration that people who see movies (critics or not) long before the movie is widely released tend to give movies higher scores than people who see the movie during or after wide release.
IMDb's forums are fun but I've been finding their ratings and scoring system to be a bit flawed.

Looks decent, but I'll wait for more opinions. Only reason those movies are so scary is cause they jack the volume up so high. Watch something like this with the volume even at half and it completely takes the freak out of it. Also noticed that most of the towns it's releasing in from that trailer seem to be big college towns.

Personally, I like getting my movie blowjob. If I was single, yeah, I'd still have a girl come with me to give me my movie blowjob. Which means no, I'm not going to focus on recording it not mainly because of my blowjob but because of the fact that it will be out on DVD sooner or later and you can get a better experience with better quality and sound. Not hearing the sucking of a penis will be the better route in this case.

10-13-2009, 08:32 AM
I just saw the trailer and was wondering if anyone else has seen this yet or is it a wait till DVD movie? All I know is that the trailer freaked me out a bit. If this movie is anything like The Blair Witch Project then I think I would like it. That movie got in my head a bit after I saw it. I was actually a big baby and slept with the light on that night. I think its more of what you come up with in your mind after watching a movie like that then it is the actual movie itself.

This is how I felt about it. My buddies all hated it and said it wasn't scary, I told them to wait until the next time they wake up in the middle of the night, and then to get back to me on that. There were a few funny parts sprinkled in there as well.

Times like this I don't mind being single. If I had a girlfriend and she got up in the middle of the night and stared at me for more than an hour it'd be a deal breaker.

Agree on the lame... and that horror isn't my thing... but I watch one every now and again to remind me why it's not my thing.
Watch The Descent with a good sound sytem and the lights completely out.

This is usually why they're not my thing... but I may have to rent this and watch it with the wife, she's a big horror movie buff.

I don't see at all how anyone could scream during the movie though.

Yeah I gotta agree with this. A few of my friends saw it in theaters and said it was scary as ****. I watched it at home, and was very very disappointed. Jumped a couple times, the screaming kind of put me on edge, but other than that I was just bored. The ending kind of pissed me off too.

I agree that the movie itself is not very scary, but the premise is, and they portrayed it fairly well. I was a bit spooked last night since I sleep in my house alone. I was more aware of the usual noises that went on and kept imagining the scenes in the movie. The movie will definitely get your heart beating, but as it is it's not a very good movie. I didn't like the characters too much either. You also need to watch it in the right setting for it to have its full effect. Idiots in the audience were screaming at the theater I was at though, but there was nothing scream-worthy. Drama queens. Nothing can ever top The Exorcist though.
I didnt think it was very scary at all. I beleive in paranormal, demons, hell, heaven etc. but I don't beleive it would reveal itself on a mainstream movie like that. I cant help but to beleive it's fake. It gave me chills when the demon ran through the room, and when it screamed and hit the wall or whatever. But i've seen scarier. I am looking forward to the Fourth Kind though.

Overall the movie has a few jumpy parts but its not scary and like others have said it must be seen in the theater to full appreciate the movie. I tried to watch a bootleg and it was just too dark. I have heard that their are like 3 different endings to the movie any one know or seen them?

Same. Pisses me off, I'd like to walk through my pitch black house at night and get nervous or something. None of these movies come close to doing that. What is so hard about making a good scary horror film? I'll tell you, it's not possible with all these ****tards making PG-13 movies.
Man, you two should really just head back a few decades, grab a diaper and some popcorn, and watch MaRs AtTaCkS!... God, that movie still haunts me to this day. What a horrifying movie.

I saw it when it came out. Everything looked too fake to be scary, and it was more of a comedy anyway. I can't tell if you're serious or not.
I'm really not serious, although when I saw it when I was about 5, it really did give me nightmares for almost a year. That was THE ONLY movie to ever give me nightmares, which is hilarious because it's the stupidest looking movie ever. Funny how the mind works.

I saw this last night and was actually pretty well done for such a low budget movie.
I did have a scary ass nightmare the next day because of it. I kept dreaming that lights were going on and off in my apartment and I had to run out onto the porch for any light at all. Then on the porch I had to hold the front door open just to keep it open. It was pretty damn scary..my dream anyways. Oh yea also I would take the front door off the hinges so it wouldn't close anymore and the door would be put back on it's hinges with my forks holding it in place.

I watched this last night and I liked it. I did not like the two main characters for many reasons, but I liked the idea of the movie. I live in an old house; big, creaky, drafty and a few people have died in the house. My kids tell me that they see different people at night in their rooms/coming out of their closets. My wife thinks she's heard footsteps at night when I'm not home. My mom hears stuff when she babysits at night. It's not scary, like NCSULuke commented, but it is freaky. It's not a great movie by any sense, but I liked it. I also liked the ending, no spoilers.
I will say I was getting very annoyed with the dude almost from the start and disliked the girl by the end.

I liked the movie! IT was good and It kept me intertained!! Asian Horror Films are way scarier than any American movie I have seen. No offense! Those Asian guys really know how to get you scared, specially if you watch the movie by yourself, on your lap top, headphones full blast and everything is pitch black and at 1 a.m.
Try it!!
I like "The Phone", it's cool!

I just watched this movie with the GF.
I really wanted to enjoy it, I thought the set-up was great, the subtle noises, details etc. were all really well done.
But Katie and her "acting" ruined it. I kept feeling like I was watching a porn. The other two cast members did a good job, especially the boyfriend. But it was so blaringly obvious when Katie would improvise dialogue, a lot of the crap that she spewed out was just endless rambling. She reminds me of the annoying no-talent theater majors at my college- the girls that get up on stage and over-emote until you get the urge to throw a puppy strapped to a baby's back at them.
