I was wondering for those that have taken creatine, how much water weight did you all put on, just an estimate? I have jumped 10lbs pretty fast and I hope it's just water weight, but I thought that would be a little much for just water.

If you are eating a lot and taking creatine your bw could change a good bit threw out the week. It is nothing to worry about if you are tracking your calories and are where you need to be for your goals.

I would say that my weight typically jumps by about 5 lbs once I have reached muscle saturation levels with creatine. The increased hydration can be good for strength levels and performance even if you have not built 5 lbs of muscle; you now have a tool (strength) to go out and build that muscle.

Supplements, good nutrition, and proper trianing are all pieces of the puzzle. Don't expect to just take creatine and gain 10 lbs of muscle.

If water retention is a problem for you then try drinking a bit more water and perhaps take some Vitamin C. This will help your body to process the fluids more efficiently.

I honestly don't ever recall getting a lot of water retention from creatine, and I've taken it on several different occasions.

I was on creatine for the last 6 months. I noticed a bunch of weight gain in the first few weeks. I went off creatine when I went on vacation to Scotland a few weeks ago and even though I ate like mad while gone and did no lifting, I came back 10 pounds lighter. I'm guessing I lost 10-15 pounds of water from dropping the creatine. I am also a pretty large guy at 310-320 and wouldn't expect as much in a smaller guy.

I've used creatine a couple times and both times I put on close to 10 lbs. of water weight within a week or two. I weigh 280ish.

I've seen people who gain up to 10 lbs. with creatine and others who gain nothing at all. It seems to vary from person to person.

This is the first time that I have taken it, so far it seems to be good. I've been taking it for about 2 or 3 weeks so I'm sure it has taken the full affect. My main goal is to burn fat while i'm on it, and deal with the water part after I'm off, but I hopped on the scale and I was 220 and jumped up to about 227, so I hope its just water.

Its quite normal, just stop taking it at the end of your cut when you want to dry out a little (if you really need too).
