Hey,

I'm 18, 6'3 150lb. I used one of the articles on the wannabebig site to calculate my BMR and my AMR.

After trolling through these boards, I've seen that I really should be eating 2k + calories per day. My BMR came up to 1400 and my AMR came up to 1700. Is this just because of my age and ht/wt ratio? Or should I really strive for the 2k +?

I've been working on bulking up recently. Hockey season just ended, and I no longer need to keep from putting pounds on.

My normal diet is as follows (only 3 meals, working on fitting 2 more in some where)

Breakfast:
Oatmeal / Bananas
Cup of OJ

Lunch at 11
Met RX 32g protein bar
Apple
Glass of Milk

Lunch at 1
Met RX 32g protein bar
Apple
Glass of Milk

Dinner
Pasta, chicken, lean beef,
Milk

Suggestions please. After reading the forums, I've come to conclude that throwing some eggs in somewhere, would probably benefit me. Anything you can offer me though. (I'd rather not eat tuna. . )

Thanks

You need more meals...

Eat Tuna, I hate it too but i'm gonna eat it.. Eat it quick, then drink some milk or eat something else really strong like hot sauce...

You need to add 2 more meals after dinner, add some protein to your breakfast, and make sure there's some protein and fats in each meal. Meal 2 could use some complex carbs. And don't forget to add readl food proteins, not just bars!

Glass of OJ

Meal 5 (6-7pmish)
Normally pasta or chicken. . . or both.
With 3 cups of 1% Milk.

you could add a can of tuna at 9-10pm
since it has really low carbs and is hi protein

Also. . .

Anything after meal 5 would be Carrots or Cellery, I can't sleep on a full stomach.

Is that 2000cals?? It doesn't look like it to me. And you are trying to bulk up?? EAT MAN EAT!!!

I would say that at 150 you should be eating at least 2250cals to maintain and 3000 to bulk. There is no way that you are going to bulk on the diet you have above. EAT MAN EAT. Eat clean and it will go on in the right places. If you still can't gain weight.....EAT MORE.

Also, if you play hockey on a regular basis you are probably burning that many cals a day just playing hockey....not to mention all the other stuff you might do during the day. Like walking...standing up.

****....I just saw that you are 6'3". Man, you need to eat a lot. Imagine the kinda game you will have being say....200lbs instead. 6'3" 150 is thin. You should be able to put on weight really fast as long as you don't do too much cardio everyday.

Just remember.....to really bulk you are going to put on some fat.

Alrighty,

the can of Tuna at 9 isn't going to work, I have classes all morning. I get out at 10:50 for lunch and normally eat my second meal then. At 1 I'll eat on my way back.

btw,

Hockey season is over, and will be unless by some miracle of god I make a D1 college team as a freshman. The only cardio I get is from working out, I suppose I can minimize that for awhile to put on some meat.

Thanks for the info everyone.

Ah, just saw your post said 9-10pm. . . PM.

My bad, I can work that in.

Don't stop working out.....If you do that than you will just put on fat. Just make sure you are eating enough to gain.

What I would do is just eat around 2500 cals and than see if you gain weight....if you don't gain just add 500 cals and keep on going up until you start gaining weight. Just don't stop working out.

Do you have a lifting routine?

Ack, yes.

I should have mentioned that. I have a normal lifting routine, for the most part it is the WBB routine #1, with some additional wrist and ab excersises.
