OK heres a thought on DE lower day.
I know how DE day is speed squats, and speed pulls
but what if instead of that, Cleans and snatchs were to be done instead of speed squats and pulls?
Would it transfer explosiveness the same way?
I want to do this because I like both power lifting and Oly lifting
Input? thoughts? concerns? flames?

Speed work is exercise specific. You will not experience any meaningful transfer from a power clean to your ability to bench press etc.

It's like anything else in this world, try it for a while and see how it works out. I have had successful training cycyles where I only trained once a week.

Do a search for olympic lifts and you'll find some pretty in depth discussions on it.

Also, there are quite a few on DE squat and bench

But as Chris said already, you aren't going to get any benefit to your squat and bench by replacing it with cleans and snatches.

I think you'd deffinatly see benefit doing them, but it wouldn't be as much benefit as direct squat/dead speed work

well i would still do speed bench for sure
i was saying replace speed squats with cleans
and speed pulls with snatchs
i mean its just a thought
only cuz i know the oly lifts require alot of speed and power
and it would keep a PLer athletic(possibly)
it might help the dead more
but i figured the rebound out of the hole in the clean might help the squat
or am i wrong?

it will make you stronger no doubt,, give it a try if you want to,,,,, who knows what the result will be.....

or you could do either do speed pulls OR speed squats and then follow up with cleans and snatches on the same day, just consider your cleans and snatches your assistance work....

Hmmmm idk, i might do that.
it was just a thought
i figure it would help keep flexability and athletacism
plus they r fun and challangeing
these comments are good
keep em coming

Travis Mash is going to be training for powerlifting and olympic lifting. He's going to be posting video and info on his training.

Speed box squats against bands will transfer better than anything IMO.

yea i figures that the speed movements for the actual lift transfer better
but i was hopeing that the cleans and snatchs would transfer just as good
idk i might stilll just try it and see how it goes

You don't have to necessarily train in the olympic lifts to be pretty good at them...

of course if you're a specialist you're going to have to, but to be stronger than the average joe (and probably track athlete, or even the average olympic lifter) powerlifting has pretty good transfer once you get the technique down...

it would be great if it worked out

OL can only be performed fast due to the nature of the lift. Explosive training helps but for most OL they are already doing a lot of explosive training.
Certain types of ME work would help with the OL lifts. The OL lifts can help with some aspects of PL as well. Like a few others have said give it a try.
2-4 weeks at a time.
