simply as the title states...here's my recent sessions...

ME BENCH & ME SQUAT
**nuthin to say about bench day...it was was !@#$. couldn't touch weight in this bastard of a shirt. will try again next week. movin on..

***!@#$in felt awesome to move some real weight like its my bitch. 800 felt lite and without knee wraps too. i usually go without knee wraps until i'm close to a meet cause i know i will bury depth with them. i go about 2 inches above parallel but these were reps. no worries there. on a side note, my partners(both 242s) were !@#$in comparing their backs and traps last nite. this !@#$ was funny to see. on has traps and the other has shoulders. so you can easily see who won out on this one. though there was said flexing going on but hard to see on camera. nice competitive spirt these two have and nice to have at a barbell club. would be nice for me to go head to head with another super in training....but !@#$ is what it is...

***tonite i just had to get some weight in my !@#$in hands cause with all the benchin issues as of late, i was about to go insane. did some reverse bands and worked up to a PR of 765 for 3(at the bottom was 565). the weight didn't feel heavy to my surprise. maybe it was the pslin, powerfull, and perfect carb i was on before i lifted. then a !@#$in hairy human being that called himself a lifter came up to me and told me i was using too much weight on the bar and can't do that. i think i was about to snap his ass in two. no !@#$in wonder people in this city have low !@#$in standards and prefer to be normal. my god! sorry. well i had to back the weight down for a set of 675 for 5 and then took off the lights and used just the minis and did 405 for 12, 500 for 5 and 500 for 3. somewhere in there i kindly asked a skinny douchebag to help me hold the bar in place. i might as well be speakin a different !@#$in language cause he didn't understand and he said he was with a "client". i so wanted to break his ass as well! anyways, i did some ICG presses which is a combination of jm press/close-grip bench. this was awesome. not many movements can pre-exhaust my strong-ass triceps. awesome !@#$. moved onto dips and pushdowns and shoulders and was done. did 120s for 2 sets of 5. i think i might have scared a few people when i did those. oh well, tommorrow is dead day...oh and i almost forgot...when i did the 765 i was goin for the 4th rep when the plates fell off. awesome !@#$!

***tonite its obvious that by modifying my squat stance weeks ago, its now made my squats a ton stronger. i've never worked up to 495 raw and 745 for 3 singles was no prob. all were below parallel which was the goal.

***tonite i felt really good. would of gotten more with 500 raw but didn't really expect 3 reps so i shocked myself. then dropped down to 405 for 20 total reps(see above). finished up with pec deck and dips. did some front laterals since my shoulders were already pre-exhausted from benchin and did some ICG presses again. those things work your tris a damn good bit! it was awesome! finished up with some abs and was done. friday is me dead day...

500 for 3 was ****in easy!

something i picked up from IRON CHAMBER GYM. its a mix of jm press and close-grip bench press but with using reverse bands. it really hits the triceps like never before and you can do a good bit of weight on them too.

***got up early this morning to hit a session with some old school powerlifters. the session was definitely old school for sure. hammering out back with 4 movements which i haven't done in a while and then did rack deads and hit 880 for 3 easy. finished up with some hammers, legs, and abs and i was done. best damn session i had in a while. last nite i was really motivated by a fellow super, seth coker. he was really enthusiastic about powerlifting which got me talkin a good bit and then this morning got to talkin with another powerlifter who has done the sport longer than i have and still love it. goes to show ya, we are a different breed from the rest...the gym i trained at was defintely hardcore for gym. it was the only one i hadn't gone to. reason being was they don't do guest passes or fees. WHAT?!? yea i said the same. i would love to train there but the membership is about $50 a month....but i do like the look of old equipment and nuthin but plates and bars around. they even had a old school squat rack for squats and push presses. badass..i love it. i hope i can go back there soon.

***last nite was a good session for once. i went into my old katana and did some close-grip benchin in my shirt. 605 for 3 was easy and 675 wasn't a problem. went 700 for singles on both 3board and 2board. both was easy. need to lower the bar faster. jon had an off nite but needs to rest and matt worked up to 705 close-grip in his rage x. first time he has had weight in his hands for a while but still good.

***tonite was a good session. benchin felt the strongest its been in a while. back in that katana again. may have to touch base with ken about a shirt...though i'm still waiting on the phenom. jon had a good nite. 705 3-board was a PR for him and was lowering the bar down faster when he went to wide grip. matt had an off night pretty much. his pec felt fine just was off was all. we had a new guy train with us, dave. he's 19 at 223 and had two bodybuilding contests and won the mr. teen alabama and wanted to do powerlifting because want to be strong and doesn't care about being on stage. benched with us tonite and got 500 off 3-board and missed 545 but wasn't a strength issue. he muscled up the 500 off 3-board but a little more time and technique he can get a 400+ raw and 500+ shirted bench. hell, he almost got 545 off 3-board. it was a great nite except for matt but he will get back on track.

only did one set cause matt blew the bands on his 2nd.

***i think the issue with the hips bein too wide maybe resolved. i was able to get depth easier with the metal squatter. it was awesome. killed 785 and muscled up 835 when i fell out of the groove for a slight second at the bottom. done without knee wraps as usual so 900 is possible. we are startin the coan dead program friday. but raw bench with dave on thursday and for a raw bench stuff we are goin to use minis to help with speed.

***today was a kickass session. trained with dave and he's a freak for sure. we worked on his setup a lot more and he has it down now. killed 245 for 25 reps. today was his first time using bands so he got up to 280 for 3 easy reps. we were pushin each other a good bit on repouts. he did 25 with 245 and i did 23 with 345 but we both miscounted. before we went to the vid, we both counted my reps at 26. well...seems like me, dave can't count. that's a sign of a powerlifter. LOL!! when i started this bench cycle before i did 350 for 17 reps so me hittin 345 for 23 was a huge jump. we took the bands off for the restabilization to take effect. we killed shoulders and triceps and was done. hittin deads/back with matt and jon tommorrow...however, i gave dave some learning material and a challenge that his eager to take on too...

***tonite was a great session. me and dave benched together while jon and matt would bench after us. kinda like benchin in shifts. anyways, dave, our new guy, got on the board tonite. killed 545 and 565 off 3-board and missed 605 at lockout. it was ****in impressive on how easy he did 565. he made it look a lot easier than 545. he tried the rage x tonite too. it was awesome. dave got fired up a bit and wanted more weight on the bar. he told me afterwards that 605 or 565 didn't feel heavy. again, it was an awesome nite for him. jon had some issues with cramping that was probably related to being dehydrated. he was doin well and i see him hittin 725 next time. matt issues with his shoulder/pec continues. he was doin better than last week but still issues with the front delt on the left side. he's takin a month and doin some full-range raw work nuthin higher than 225. see what happens. its an odd issue to say the least and a lot of experienced lifters i've come across are clueless and even confused as to what happen so i'm all ears.

i guess 2 out of 4 isn't bad,

What did he do to it in the first place that hurt it?

He may very well have torn his pec right where it inserts into the shoulder. It may be a good idea to get an MRI and get it checked out

it wasn't a tear. there was no bruising at all.

There doesn't have to be bruising in a tear

In my experience in the total tears there is often minimal or no bruising, it's the partial tears that bruise badly, or the ones that are in the middle of the muscle.

If his tore at the insertion point, it wouldn't surprise me at all if there wasn't any bruising.

Just my 2 cents though. It's his shoulder

In my experience in the total tears there is often minimal or no bruising, it's the partial tears that bruise badly, or the ones that are in the middle of the muscle.

***today was a great session. done a ton of reps as sort of a back off week for me on raw bench. the band popups are awesome. give them a try. it at least makes the smith machine ****in useful for powerlifters. i was asked a ton of question as i was training at different gym, worlds in tuscaloosa. dave had some family issues to deal with so i hope things are ok with them. anyways, i did the machine tricep press the way frankl demonstrated with the grip on the curve. the bent over shrug laterals was done with a shrug at the beginning and holding it and goin into a lateral raise. defintely put more stress on the traps as well as the rear delts. i attempted 20 reps with 225 on shoulder press in one shot but only got 15. still not bad.

***tonite was a good session. my setup felt more solid more than normal. matt is still rehabbing his shoulder/pec/rotator cuff issue with reverse bands with trent who made his return to BMBB. he's more motivated than before to get back to where he was a year ago. dave had another badass benchin session. he "muscled" up 605 and 625 off 3-boards. i say that cause he's still learning technique. he did a 525 2-board first time and it was easy for him so he can do more on those. he's comin along quickly on the bench and now we are goin to work on his squat until he can squat with us in january at least right now he can learn how to squat right. matt seems to be doin a bit better..the pec is doin better so it could be a few more weeks before he is back to benchin again. jon was MIA tonite so he will be squattin with us on tuesday. as for me, 705 for 3 was purely tricep work for sure! those smith machine popups are a keeper!

***tonite was a great session. trained with dave and trent. dave got 280 for 18 reps and then did 315 for 10 after that. 380 was easy enough...16 reps was in the tank. trent is still in the building process from a year layoff. we went to seated shoulder presses where dave did 255 for 4 reps and i did 270 for 9 reps. we continued with rest of the session hammering out some shrugs, kroc rows, and popups. we focused a bit more tech work on dave tonite so he can learn to hold the weight out and he did that a lot more effectively. lookin foward to sunday...

**today was a great deadlift session. jon did 460 for 10 reps and they were his best i've seen him. matt did the same with 6 sets of 3. he wanted to give up but we kept pushing him. mason pulled with us today and his pulling has gotten a lot stronger. did 460 for 6 reps. i did ok...530 for 10. brought the bar closer to me and doin an "adam" on deadlifts...seems to work. everyone is lookin foward to the spf alabama meet in january.

***had a good bench session tonite. dave couldn't make it out cause of car issues, matt did some reverse band work. good news is, he's gettin better and jon is intent on keepin it that way. jon did 785 off 3-boards too...had he grooved it the way he had done the other sets, 785 would of been smoke show. trent did some reverse band raw work and made big improvement this week. jon had me go up to 875 off 3-boards and it was easy. reverse bands though so no big deal. the aim is to do it without them. i went back to my rage x to see how it felt for bein on the shelf for a year. it felt like it had magic still but the shoulders on it are pulled apart so the shirt doesn't say on my shoulders like it needs to. would like to get that repaired at some point since the shirt is still usuable to some degree.

***tonite was an awesome session. we had a new guy come squat with us. he's 180ish or so and easily got his squat form down. he went up to 425 w/o a belt which is impressive. trent did the same and his muscle memory is coming back big time. jon did front squats off the 531 program and got 375 for 7 reps easy but ran out of breath while holding the bar near his neck. matt had mason's briefs and did 745 for a single. he said it was about the same as his old briefs. i went up to 745 for a single without the suit and tried for a triple with 845 but no go. will get it next week...its awesome we are gettin this many members quickly. we have another one joinin us for squats next week. we are goin to work on some type of system of lifting...

***today was ****ty session...had a ****ty day all round but what can say...it was ****in friday the 13th! anyways, defintely goin to back down the numbers a bit on deads and work on hip and hammy work too. matt did awesome dispite not finishing his pulls. 585 for 1 and 490 for 4 sets of 3. jon did 490 for 7 reps i believe. great work. but i did learn a valuable lesson today though. most of this year i have been listening to everyone but my partners. since august i've been listening to those who mattered to me and my training which includes jon and matt. just because someone is a pro lifter or ranked #1 doesn't mean they know it all about lifting. listen to those who give a **** and don't put stock into someone because of their status. they may give you some ideas but everyone is goin to be different and your training partners and support are the most important factor to look at. though now i feel like mr.t in rocky 3..

***tonite was kinda like a speed session working on low box height which from what jon has told me and matt, its below where we normally squat. matt had some gear issues and went back into his metal briefs and got some strong sets with 585. we watched the "never enough" which helped us a lot on squat form. my hips was fried which i assume i'm squattin right. jon hips were fried too. makes sense though since my hips were shaking like a chicken last week. so deadlifting friday should be alot of fun. went to some ssb box squats afterwards for some reps raw to get some volume in and we were done.

***tonite was an ok session. pretty pissed about the shirt. its a katana and it sucks. feels like i'm benchin raw in it(maybe the reason why my raw bench is goin up...LOL!!). of course its close grip so its goin to suck-ass tryin to close-grip in a shirt like the katana but after my rage x comparison, the shirt is lackin a good bit of pop and i hate it. matt worked up to 635 tonite off 3- board and so far no issues. dropped down to 585 for reps. jon had an off session. he hadn't been in a shirt for a few weeks now but next week it will get back on track. had some lifters tonite MIA. 2 said they were coming and one hasn't touched base with us at all. making it rethink the idea of trying to "groom" powerlifters.

***tonite i decided to go ahead and give my max dl a trial run and it was success. pulled 675 easy in it and missed 725. its been about 3 years since i've been in a suit for deads and missed how much they help. i will be coming up with a way to get used to the suit before the meet without taxing my cns. i think 750 is in the books. matt pulled 625 in his suit which looked easy and jon took the day off from deads to do some active recovery for his back. adam joined us for some pulls and is gettin back into it after a long layoff. next week is a deload for me and back at it in 2.

***tonite was a good session. changed it up a bit and did some high reps and 2-board work to save the cns. worked up to 635 for 4 before goin to a 2-board which is awesome that i did 675 for 1 off 2-board while bein spent....though i've done either full range or 1-board bein spent so we'll see how it works. jon hit a 2-board PR with 650. matt did 635 and 675 off 1-board. adam austin joined us and did 500 and 525 off 3-boards first time in a "real" shirt. i think he's goin to be in a bit of pain though cause he's not used to the weights he was moving tonite. everyone progress well...squats are tommorrow...

***tonite was a good session...considering me and matt both didn't get hurt..LOL!! we wanted to do some reverse band benchin to get some real weight in our hands. both me and matt both did 875 off 1-boards tonite which good for our progress(me for my shirt issues and matt for his recovery). we both decided to go 925. he wanted to do it off 1-board and i did off 2-board. i should of jacked my shirt on the 875. i attempted 925 but brought the bar high and couldn't lock it. it came off the boards fast on vid. matt did he same off 1-board so i think we are both stronger than we realize. did some accessory work and called it a day. might do some speed benchin with matt on bench accy day to give my raw bench a break. btw..it was just us tonite...

still got work to do though,

***tonite me and matt had a ****ty session. it was just us and we used the box to gauge depth. matt went up to 785 and i went to 835. we both needed to drop the height because of the bow of the bar. i dropped it to between where we always had and what matt used to tonite and seemed to work. didn't feel like i did **** so i did some suicide box squats. the sets of 315 to 495 were done with little rest in between and off the box. did those and i was done. hopefully next week we can get some more guys to squat with us...we still had to do work enough we still are in need of guys.

still can hit heavy squats with 2 guys...i guess...

***tonite was a good session. we lowered the rack height to compensate for the bent bar so it worked. me and matt feel good about our squats goin into this meet. we went below parallel so no question on depth. trent tried on full gear tonite and did 2 singles with 655. his goal...to squat more than mason did in training which is 675. jon did front squats with 385 for 9 reps. now all me and matt have to do is rest up for the meet.

***did some squattin tonite with bands with matt and russell. russell is our new guy at 6-2, 265 and plays ball for the crimson tide. he nailed a deep 405 with choked blues which is the most he's had on his back. me and matt did 675 easy with choked blues with briefs and then matt did 4 reps with 585 afterwards. did some good squattin tonite. yea, i felt fine tonite. i've been gettin some good sleep the last few days and wasn't worn from the meet but goin to "check in crazy" for the rest of the week though. goin to be reading up some old wsb articles to get some training ideas...

***today its back on the 531 dead program. i decided to use a sumo-conv stance on deads(simliar to coan) and it seems to allow me to use more leg drive and move the bar faster. so i like it a lot. we will see how this translates in gear down the road.

***went into my old rage x(the one used to bench 760 back in 08) and since last year its had the shoulders torn on it. we had it "fixed" last weekend and was goin to give it a try tonite when one of the repaired shoulders blew again. oh well, decided to continue on. tripled 695, doubled 750, and singled 805(a double would of been possible). i shocked myself a bit. could of done this in any other shirt save the apex really. matt did 785 off 2bs in his phenom and jon was working his way back into shirt work after having been off from it for about 2 weeks. it was good session all round.

***tonite was another great session in my old rage x. looks like we are goin to attempt to repair it since its obvious that "grid-stitched" shirts don't work for me like they do for matt and jon. 835 was really easy to my surprise. matt tried out his new overkill and nailed a 835 off 3-board which is a 30lb PR for him. every weight he attempted was easy. jon tripled 625 off 3-board tonite and it was strong. strapping up that 3rd strap makes a difference.

****squat session went better than expected. took away the box and got back into "practicing like i play" mindset. the band work we've been doin has been paying off...that and the change in suits too. 835 came up easy. yes it was 2 inches high and i wasn't wearing knee wraps. in the coming weeks it will be easier. raw work today went well too....though i feel a deload coming on though. 465 for 8 was easiest i've ever done it. warming up, 405 was very easy. really focused on flexing the lats when i bench which drops my stroke a bit. standing mlitaries with 235 for 10 wasn't a problem either. between me doin the standing shoulder work and close-grip work, my bench is moving up...shirted and raw. did some heavy bent laterals for a change of pace as well as some other accy stuff and called it a day. i'm ranging between 330-335 on a day to day basis.

***today was a great session. i decided to take on 800 on reverse band deads and it was easy as the 765 i did a few weeks before. back in 2007 i couldn't even budge 800 off the floor. what i can do on reverse band deads i typically can do in gear. adam pulled 605 easy, matt and jon did 675 and dave(20 yrs at 230) did 675 for 2 reps...his first time doin reverse band deads. went onto to doin barbell shrugs where both me and dave did 50 reps with 585 and then did kroc rows with 220s for 15 reps...dave did 10. finished up with some bicep, abs, extra lat work, and leg work and was done. doin a deload next week so i can can keep this freight train moving along...

***tonite wasn't a good session and ended up irritating me a bit. started out puttin on the ace with the sleeve rolled a good 1 1/2 up to attempt to get over my elbows which didn't happen though the roll though ended up cutting off circulation very quickly than normal so we had to get me out of the shirt and try to stretch the sleeves. the shirt hasn't been over my elbows for a while now just sitting on my forearms. we went into my old rage x and attempted the same 605 but the other shoulder blew on it so that shirt is done. went raw and worked up to 700 raw off 2-boards.

***it was first time in bench shirt since last week's failure. i've been stretching the sleeves of the shirt out to help and i think it did. felt better this week in it. 785 was easy. went to a 1board and got close but slipped out of my arch trying to touch the board first time since gettin this ace. will go for it again next week and will touch. the shirt however puts me in the right groove everytime i get weight out. elbows are tucked better though too...

***squat day was me and jon doin ssb box squats. we just did some reps for recovery since we were short on spotters. the weights felt good. just need to work on squatting right raw which is a sent back from using gear. raw bench and shoulders went very well yesterday. trained with garrett griffin from new orleans. he's a freak. went up to 475 on bench which is a 15lb PR for him. he's closer to benching 500 than he think he is. 550 was surprise for me. i misgrooved the first attempt from lack of upper chest strength. something that i can work on with inclines. good thing. i'll be starting the ed coan bench routine next week since it includes inclines. me and garrett killed it though...it was awesome session...we defintely gotta do this again...

***training as been well the last few days and gettin things dialed in. i accidentally mistook 750 for 710 on bench and made 750 easy. so i mentally ****ed myself there. squats went well tonite working up to a 855 opener which will be easy considering i'll be using knee wraps in competition. i got one more week of hard and intense training and then i'm shutting it down for the meet..
