I really wasn't thinking when I started my 12 week ed coan routine and registered for a push/pull meet that is in the middle of my 9th week of my routine. I was wondering what you guys thought would be a good approach to this. Should I take my 9th week off from the routine and start back on week 9 after the meet or just train and go to the meet and see how I do. The meet is N/S meet not for my federation.

IMHO, it's never a good thing to go into a meet tired, unless that is part of the plan.

I'd take a week and get some rest.

I would work backwards from the last week off the cycle to plan. If your meet is 10 weeks away but you had a 14 week cycle in mind. Start training for the meet with week 10 of that partuclar cycle. That way you head into the meet with the right amount of rest and deloading needed to do a meet properly

Thanks guys

Scott I do not totally follow you. Right now Im starting week 5 tomorrow. I have 4 weeks to my meet. Should I got to week 12 tomorrow and go 12,11,10.9,meet?

With 4 weeks left, you don't have time to really change much. You'll probably have to work up to your openers in the next week or two and see where you are at and then deload. If this meet isn't that important to you and you want to just use it as a heavy training session, you could just train normally then deload a bit the week before.

I think I may go with your idea Sean. The meet is only a local push/pull meet for a gym around here. My birthday is Jan 19th so I wanted to just do a meet and go out to dinner to celebrate. Its more just to have fun and get another meet under my belt.

Im saying the last few weeks are the most important and you cant get much stronger, but you can get weeker.

Just do the last planned weeks of your cycle. Dont worry where you at now in the cycle. Then only important thing now is to be fully rested. Do the last 5 weeks that tou planned into the meet.

Since the coan cycle is 12 weeks long and your 5 weeks out from the meet next workout you should start at week 7 of the cycle.

in the end it's not WPC Worlds.... it's not APF seniors or IPF Worlds etc.... a non-sanctioned meet could just be a good heavy training day to check your progress........
