How has 2009 gone for everyone on here?
About this time last year after a few years of largely BB style training I came back to WBB and started doing more compounds which gradually progressed to me doing 5/3/1.
I bulked from 220 up to 245 and cut to 215 with most of the muscle and a bit less BF.
My lifts have gone from-
DL- 374 to 550
Bench- 210 to 253
Squat- 245 to 330
I aim to compete earlyish 2010 in the 100kg class. It's been an awesome year and I'd like to say a massive thanks to everyone who's offered advice and stopped by my journal, couldn't have done it without you all.

first serious year of training for me
bw 140lbs-155lbs just about all muscle mass
40yard time 5.4-5.0 last time i checked was in june

2009 was pretty good despite training around some injuries. I think I'm finally smarter about prehab, warmup, and learning when to back off, so I can stay healthy. Sometimes I get stupid.
Squat: went over 700 for the first time with 733
Bench: went over 500 for the first time with a best of 529
Deadlift: went over 700 for the first time with 710
Total: first elite total with 1940
It's also been a crazy with moving the gym from my garage to a commercial space. Watching the steady flow of new equipment, new members, and new PRs for everyone has been amazing.

Goals set in Oct 2008 for 2009:
Cut to 148 weight class - DONE!
Bench Raw 175 - DONE!
Total Raw 800#, totaled 805# this Oct - DONE!
Raw Elite in 148 Women's - DONE!
2009 been very very good to me - Big Thanks to Lonesxedge and even yes, Travis Bell !!
Now time to set some goals for 2010, maybe that single ply gear will get a turn this year :cool:

This year wasnt that great for me. I made some huge gains but could put it together on the platform. Squats went from 400ish to 630lbs, bench went from 275ish to 365, deads went from 420 to 505lbs.
I was going for a national record but hurt my knee on my last attempt which hurt my deadlifting later on in the meet.
Hopefully 2010 will be much better. I am gonna try to go to WPC Worlds in Finland. I'm hoping to squat 700, bench low to mid 4's, and deadlift at least 600.

2009 was an excellent year. In June I decided to get back into lifting. Much to my surprise, my numbers rose pretty quickly.
pretty good year for me overall, results on platform where:
squat 755 to 838
bench 411 to 479
dead 628 to 666
best meet total from 1726 to 1967.
bodyweight stayed pretty much the same.
I havn't competed really the 2nd half of 2009 and I expect my next meet to hit some big PRs with the strength i have gained in 09.

Squat - 325 to 405
Bench - 275 to 285...maybe a bit more but still embarassing
Deadlift - 405 to 495
bw got up to about 220 in march. Cut down to 193 with minimal strength loss by August and was looking the best i'd ever looked. Started seriously bulking again at the start of October and made the majority of my strength gains in that time up utnil now(Dead from 445 to 495). I now weigh 205

Bodyweight went up a solid 6lbs.
Added a lot to my Bench, more so to my shirt bench.
Upper back strength is way up.
Learnt a lot and had a really good year in all areas of my life.

I hit my first Elite total this Spring of 1,940 @ 242. This was awesome.
Then in July I hurt my back and I've been dealing with it since then. Partially torn disc. This is not awesome.
I'm not sure what 2010 will bring, but I'm concentrating on rehabbing and hitting a 600 bench! I may also give NASA/USAPL single-ply a shot in bench only. I've always competed multi-ply and I think it would be fun.
This year hasn't been a bad year, but its been a year of roller coasters...
Injury wise, I tore my left calf in May falling down the stairs. I then displaced a vertebra in my neck messed up my upper back having a tempertantrum about a flat tired (I had to break off some rusted bolts to get the spare out from under the truck) in August.
because of Injuries, I only did 2 meets, but I did set some PR's...
Squat: From 765 in Nov 2008 to 805 in May 2009 (with the torn calf) to 825 in October.
Bench: from 545 in Nov 2008 to 635 in May 2009 (with the torn calf) only to backslide a bit this fall because of my back/neck/trap crap. Thats fixed now so things will get better.
Deadlift: bleh. Didn't accomplish **** this year with deadlifts. Actually back slid. Went from a Meet PR of 545 in Nov 2008 to a meet best of 530 this year in May (again with the calf).
Meet total was frustrating. I was just a few lbs short of my ELITE total with a meet best of 1855 in 2008 to a meet best of 1970 this year.... again with the torn calf.
This next year I want to stay injury free and go 900/700/600.... It has been declared. It will be done.
Or I'm going to break something getting there.
The gym is now up and running. Things are going good with that. Most of all, I want to have more fun next year than I had this last year.
I might even consider doing a meet with multiply gear this coming year. You never know. ;)

2009 was a really good year for me, especially since I haven't competed in 7 years. My first meet back which was February my lifts were: 875 squat, 525 bench, 665 deadlift, 2065 total. I ended the year with a 1005 squat, 625 bench and a 677 deadlift. I totaled 2300@242 which was a huge improvement and a huge PR. The only goal I missed was my 700lb deadlift, so that would be my goal for 2010.

2009 was a good year for me.After a 7 year layoff i'am about half way back after 8 months at it.Bench 365,deadlift 450 and squat 435.2010 looks very promising to be back full strength and get a meet in maybe in June.Made new freinds on diffrent forums and got back to respectable weights very quickly by learning from diffrent people and methods of training.

It's been a very eventful and wild year for me. Turned out to be great. I did my 1st single ply meet in several years and broke some all-time over 50 marks. I totaled the (at the time) #8 open squat and #14 total for the year. I did a raw meet and finished it with the top >50 squat and total of all-time. Mike Bridges broke the total a week later, but that's certainly no disgrace! Got kicked out of a commercial gym and that turned out to be great because it pushed me to do what I've wanted to do for several years. Open a hardcore private powerlifting team gym; "Monster Barbell" that is now 2 weeks old! Like I said; wild, eventful, and GREAT!

started out pretty ****ty lifting wise. but got back with my gf...first meet in january did 1955@262....70lbs less than my pr.....but my last meet went good...went 2200@258....so it has gotten better but now Im deadling with a hip problem

Looking back at old journal papers from mid-January to early February of 2009, I was at:
55x8 military press
160x5 bench press
Now Ive competed twice, squatted 320 w/ wraps in a meet, military press 105x9, bench 205 in a meet (215 in training), and deadlifted 300 in a meet (I know I can do more, I got 250x10 yesterday). Gained about 9-10 lbs of pretty much all muscle (~140-149.5). Can't really complain too much.

This year was awesome for me. Never Squatted or dead lifted before this year, exceeded all my goals by leaps and bounds.

2009 has been great for me. I was 150 pounds when i started lifting in January. Honestly I was suprised to see 151 on the scale. I was allways in the 140s. The first time I tried bench pressing this year, I put 80 pounds on a 20 pound bar, and barely got 1 rep. Squatted nothing, and didnt even know what a deadlift was. Friday the same scale said 218. Saturday I squatted 300 x 5 with great depth. Monday I benched 240 x 4. Yesterday I pulled 350 x 2 and then 300 x 5 deadlifting. Noob gains are great. I sure will miss them in 2010.

It was a good year. One of my main goals for this year was to bench 400+ in competition, which I did in September. And, my max squat has increased about 150 pounds. Deadlift... well it's up too but not as much as I'd like.
Around a year ago, I thought it'd be cool to see what it was like to weigh 350 ( not a fat 350 though ), back then I never really seriously thought I'd get there but I'm currently 345 ( yeah my belly sticks out a little, but it's solid and strong, LOL ). When I first found this site, I wanted to be big , and now I am seriously big ( and working on the strong part ), this forum works, LOL.

I struggle with deadlift form more than the other lifts. My bench and squat form are nowhere near perfect ( but I'm working on perfection ) but I've still made really solid progress, IMHO. Deadlifting, not so much. I'm sure form is part of it is form/technique but not all of it.

In terms of lifting, some good, some bad. Wrist injury has not allowed the snatch and clean and jerk to be where they should be. Leg strength however is now redonk.

I stayed relatively healthy and major injury-free, while getting stronger. I guess that's all you can really ask for.

My year was best as far as results in ealy 2009. I had a good meet in January where I hit my 1st pro total (1929 @ 198). Since then I haven't beenable to put things all together in a single meet. I'm also at a new gym which has been great. I think this will pay off big in the coming year.

Thought I would have the worst year ever. Coming of of nerve damage in left shoulder problems, got myself in a spot of legal trouble, really lost my passion for a bit. Thanks to a great crew out of NGBB I made it back on the platform. (about 50 lbs overweight), but I did it, damnit. Only a bench PR at 308 vs. my 242 total. Also got my pull over six with no belt. The good news is the legal woes have passed, my shoulder is working upwards of 90% and I'm back down to 260-something, keeping the strength I gained, but hopefully will have the endurance to use it now.(my back cramped up BAD just filling out the entry form last meet, so you can imagine how gassed I was by the end. Still qualified for the senior nationals, but I gotta do it again in the 275's. Nothing to write home about, but I am blessed to be able to train with some of the finest gentleman in this sport- and some of the finest dirtbags too. Merry Christmas to all of my purple bloated compatriots, and what the hell-its christmas all the rawdawgs and IPF'ers too.

This has been a wonderful year, God is extremely good to me! My marriage is better than ever, what more could I want! I am just so grateful for Christ in my life, Christ is born! Lifting went well also, got into powerlifting. And learned a lot of life lessons from the gym this year, what more could I ask for. Also, did my first meet (push/pull) and the icing on the cake was to get best lifter open division.

it's pretty good 1st year..I started with about a 300lb deadlift and I maxed out today at 490lbs...I'm going to see where my squat is in a few days too...my squat started at about 300lbs as well...I'm hoping I can hit 500lbs...bench wasn't too impressive..but I'm up 15lbs in the last 5 weeks at 315lbs...

Been a busy year for me. Was layed off for 2 months. Got into power lifting this year. I had never Squatted, Deadlifted, or Actually pressed a Barbell before. Just that makes me excited to see my Progress in 2010.
I started training specific to powerlifting 1/1/08.
Squat went from 80 to 225 (meet with single ply gear).
Bench went from 80 to 175 (precise gym lift with single ply).
Deadlift went from 125ish to 285 (single ply) at a meet.
Am switching to training completely raw 5x5 unless I am a few weeks out from a meet this year and will also focus on wider squat and more heavily arched bench on light squat and bench day this year. Am also going to static stretch really hard every weekday instead of every other.
I am also gaining weight and am curious to see how 20-25 extra pounds will make a difference from 120ish to 140-145 now. I know I will get better and better.

Pretty good year for me, overall.
Hit my first 600 DL
Squat went from 425 raw to 490 raw.
Bench stayed the same.
Hit a nearly 1,400 total doing 2 out 3 lifts raw (squat and bench).
Overall strength went up and I gained about 10lbs of solid BW.
In 2010 I want to hit a 500 raw squat, 600 suited squat, 330 raw bench, 450 shirted bench, 620 suited DL, and 550 raw DL plus 1,350 raw total and 1,650 equipped (single ply) total in the 220 class.
