I am just a chunky ole tennessee lad that wants to be as strong as can be. I've been lifting for the last 8 years and am just now getting somewhat strong "due to stupidity, lack of diet, insert excuse here":tuttut:. I'm a 40 y/o male that weighs 290lbs with 18.5% bf "am I svelte or what". I've given up on powerlifting and am currently getting ready for the Putnam County strongman contest in Aug of this year so a lot of my training is geared toward that. I hope you folks enjoy reading it as much as I will have writing it. Cheers.:hello:

A pretty good day but I felt kind of weak on the military presses, however I did get a weight on the incline that I haven't done in a few years. I haven't really done inclines "with any real weight" for a long time so I'm still working back up, but with the strongman contest I want to do in Aug I've decided that they're more beneficial than flat benches for a good OH log press. This was a pretty darned good day but I still missed 600 again. I think I'm not pulling in the 500+ range enough to solidify a consistent 600 pull. My grip is getting better every day and I didn't have any issues on the missed deadlift but I just didn't have the gas for some reason. The funny thing is that my speed pulls "every set up to and including 365" are getting faster every week so I think I'm just not pulling enough heavy weight off the ground to make my cns adapt. I'm fully capable of pulling the weight but just have to work a little harder. Oh well hard work is it's own reward right. Cheers.:)

A darned good day considering I'm sore as a $2 you know what. Those band rows from yesterday definitely did the trick so I'll have to use them more often. My triceps are still sore from monday so I'm also happy about the cg presses. I'm definitely doing things right this time around and it's showing. Thanks for the kind words but I used to be a 148lb weakling when I first went into the military and this is all the result of hard work and eating "lots and lots and lots of eating".:omg: I actually feel good at 292 but eventually I do want to get down to around 265-275 and stay there.:)

A decent enough day but I twinged my lower back again while re-racking 315. I was stupid and didn't walk it all the way back in and leaned over wrong.:eek: I'm working up my top set of squats by 5lbs a week and doing doubles and so far it seems to be going great. My hamstrings were still tired from wednsdays deadlift session so I was weak in the wider stance therefore I squatted closer stance. My grip is definitely getting stronger as I got a weight for 10 seconds today that I couldn't do for 1 second three weeks ago. This should not be an issue this August like it was last year as my goal is to be able to hold 405 overhand with the fatgripz by then. Well you folks have a great weekend.:)
