This was my last heavy squat session before my meet on February 27th. I didn't get depth on my 930, and I cut it high on the 1020. I know I could of got depth with that 1020, but I was having problems with my hips shooting forward at the bottom and I didn't want that to happen under that much weight. Hopefully I can get it together at the meet. I'm probably looking at 950-960 for an opener.

Maybe it's the camera angle, but your feet look further back. You look ready for the meet. I think it's always easier to hit depth at a meet when your back is rested and you can arch better.

I noticed that too, Marcus. Looked a little bit like you were setting up a little further back than you should

You handled the weight though! Can't wait to see how you do at this meet.

What's considered good depth in the APF? Because even that 840lb squat looked 4-6" away from parallel.

All the same, I'm pretty sure my spine would fold in half if I had 1000lbs on my back.

Thanks guys!!! I did have the bar set one pin lower then normal, so maybe thats what was messing me up. Thanks again for the input!!!!

Required depth in the APF is the top of your hip has to be below the top of your knee. I know that 840 was high, it was still considered a warm-up. The reason my coach called me up is because he saw my hips shoot forward in the hole. When he see us having trouble and fighting to get depth he is gonna call us up. I dont plan to open with 840 or 930 so the depth in these videos arent a big deal to me. I will say that I wish I didnt punk out on the 1020 because I know I could of got depth, but my setup was off from the beginning and everything starts with a good setup.

Brian, when do you put on your kneewraps? I ask because they change the squat position some on that initial descent of the bar. If you're not putting them on until your peak weight it may be throwing off your timing a little.
You may want to try putting them on one set ahead of your peak weight (if you aren't now) to give you time to get the "feel" of it.

Beverly, normally I would of put them on earlier. I really wasn't planning on going that heavy Tuesday, it almost seemed like a last minute decision. Normally I would of put them on after that 840. Thanks Beverly!!!!

When you get your set-up just right you're going to nail it. The strength is there.
No doubt you already know (better than I do!) when you move max weight everything has to be just right. If the wind is blowing in the wrong direction it's over ;)

I only wear wraps at meets, and I squat better in training. I never thought that wraps could throw me off a bit if I'm not used to it. It makes sense though. I need to start wearing them some in training. If they are messing me up, then I'll just not wear them at meets.

Looks good man. Good luck at your meet. You might want to check your monolift height though. You did a 1/4 squat just to get off the hooks lol

Thats what gets me so nervous come meet day because I only have 3 attempts to get it right. I really need to spend more time under heavy weight to see if I can correct this.

Thanks Scott, I really appreciate it!!! The height of the bar was my fault, I will make sure I dont do that again. It wasn't that bad when I had no gear or even the briefs on, but once I got the suit on is when I should of gone up one more pin. Thanks again Scott!!!
