View Full Version : Using singles in training

I am trying to convert almost completely to singles now in training of myself and my athletes. What are some good singles workouts? Some things I've experimented with are for example: 6x1 @ 80%; 4x1 @ 90%; 4x1 @ 95% Does this look about right? Keep in mind I'm trying to do this for training of the clean and jerk and the bench press. Please critique, and tell me what can be done better?

Singles Def have there place in training. But I would be weary of using the same movement too often with near 100% loads. It always ends up getting ugly in a few weeks. Rotate the lifts and you should be fine. i did this for years. Its basic Westside stuff for the most part.

Why are you trying to train only with singles?

Yeah I would look into Westside it has been proven over and over by people around the world, it is easy to make work for each individual.
All singles is a dead end street for sure.
Hope this helps.

Interesting rep scheme... However, I hope you're doing some higher reps as well to develop coordination and some muscle growth/ size.
WSB and 5-3-1 routines use singles as well and I've had great results w/ both.
Just make sure you manage your intensity as the heavy singles can lead to overtraining pretty quick... Throw in a light/ deload week every 4th week or so and you should be OK.
Good luck bro,
