View Full Version : Whats the best way to play this guys ?

My dilema guys is that I work a 12 hr days and nights pattern.....tomoro I start a 4 nightshift cycle and start at 1900 and finish at 0700....

My diet is something along these lines Sample Menu #1


Meal # 1 (Breakfast)
Protein Shake
1 serving of plain oatmeal
Optional Supplement: 1 teaspoon of Flax seed oil

Meal # 2 (Snack)
3 Hard Boiled Eggs
1 serving of Broccoli

Meal # 3 (Lunch)
31/2 ounces Chicken Breast
1 cup of mixed vegetables
1 Large Apple

Meal # 4 (My post workout meal)
1 Banana
11/2 servings of whey protein powder
(sipping on my whey protein during my workout and finishing it after my workout)

Meal #5 (Dinner)
31/2 ounces of Salmon
cup spinach
1 serving of berries such as strawberries

Meal #6 Optional (Before I go to bed)
Protein Shake


Now my problem is that I will wake tomoro morning at 0800 and follow the above diet through to say 2000 ..but obviously I will still be awake from 2000 untill o700 the next day...What would you do re eating in that time window between 2000 and 0700.

I will sleep in the day approx 6 hours (not enough I know but thats the shifts i work)

How would you guys play the eating issue given this problem with shift pattern

Keep eating every 3 to 4 hours (or when you get hungry) while awake.

Thanks for the reply ...that makes sense but I guess it will feel like I have been eating for the best part of 24 hours lol

The main reason you don't eat while your asleep is b/c you're asleep. Deep thoughts...
