What is Louie saying about angling your hands? Is it inwards, but then you pull them outward while pressing?

I think these are from the CrossFit website actually.

We've been doing a CF powerlifting seminar, teaching people how we train at Westside, once a month and occasionally they take video and post it.

Travis if you could expand on this that would be awesome. That was news to me as well.

I have heard about trying to bend the bar, but never anything to do with hand angling...

Well you don't want to actually angle your hands, but what he was trying to do was get the guy to squeeze with his pinkies more.

A lot of those guys were really setting the bar back far in their hands, which makes them squeeze more with their index finger and thumb. When you squeeze with your pinkies, you activate your triceps a lot more.

Plus, the guy he was talking to was using the football bar as well, but you can't see that on camera

I hold the bar tighter with my pinkies than I do with my index fingers. I have my hands angled. My pinkies are wrapped around the bar whereas my index fingers are pressing into the top of the bar. Intersting, I never really thought about it until you all talked about. I never really planned it. That's just how my body has adapted itself to bench.

I haven't been able to test it out on a bench, but just by squeezing my last few fingers I notice that it flexes my wrists and triceps a lot more than before. Interesting..

So I tested it out today with just light weight and it feels much more stable. It takes away the back and forth wrist movement of your hands and just stays firmly in place.
