I finally benched over 500 (515) last night. Sorry for the crappy vid. Guy at the gym recorded on his cell phone. The shirt is big on me, I can get in it by myself and be ready to go in about 30 sec! I should have held a bit longer at the top, I was just surprised how easy it went up. Any comments or criticisms are ok.

I don't get vid at work. I can't wait to get home and see it. Congrats, it's an awesome milestone. Like shocker said, it's on to 600. You'll be surprised how quickly you can progress when you put those 00's behind you.

Side spotters? Who needs em they are worthless for the most part. I mean they get in the way of a great picture dontchya think? HA j/k.

You bring up a valid point and I thought that the two guys that I usually have were there but afterwords I realized that they were not and I was not real happy. Next time I will make sure.

how much can you bench without that shirt?

Mike - for a single? I did 420 for a sloppy rep and 410 paused for what "might" have passed at a meet. Why the ? about my raw bench. Just curious.

Good job, bro.

Your title says "USAPL Raw Lifter"; do you also compete in geared meets?

Yes - I did the Arnold Raw a couple of years ago. I have only done one full meet in gear. As I have aged, I have developed some shoulder issues and lifting in a shirt takes alot of the discomfort away. I'm one of the few lifters who likes competing either way, geared or raw.

I was just curious as well..I was wondering how much more a shirt gave you..

I know it varies person to person..there is probably a topic about shirts here somewhere, but your topic popped up so I figured I'd ask...

That's friggin awesome!

Hey, what bench shirt are you using? I'm getting ready to start including shirtbenching in my training, and your's looks like you have it dialed in pretty good.
Thanks, and keep up the awesome work!

Thanks. The shirt is a single-ply Titan Super Katana A/S (sz.48). This was my first time back in a shirt since Sep so I feel pretty good about it. We'll see how the next training session goes

OK well last night was another shirted workout. After last night I'm not afraid to admit I am definitely not a shirt expert! The week before I felt like I could have lifted a house - last night it felt like I was trying to lift the house.
Everything felt awkward. I had a hard time getting the weight to my chest and staying in the groove.

I got 500 easy, sloppily locked out 525 and just missed 530 twice. When the shirt got tight at the bottom I flattened out pulling the bar down instead of bringing my chest up to meet the bar (does that make sense)? Stupid mental mistakes! Who knew you had to use your head to be a powerlifter.

For my last try I went for 505 with signals (start, pause, rack) and got it. So all in all I was pretty happy.

After getting the shirt off, I noticed that the seam on my left are was not in the same place on my tri that it was last week. It was off by about 1.5in. Could this have caused my issues last night?

How do those of you that have years of experience in shirts get them seated the same way each time? Do you have any tricks or advice for consistency? I think one issue I have is that the shirt is large in the sleeves. I can rotate my arm in the sleeve pretty freely which could be allowing the seam to move. Maybe time for alteration.

Thanks again everyone for all of the comments and feedback.
