i was wondering what you guys think... should i drink my protein before during or after my workout?

After would be your best bet. Be sure to consume some carbs with the protein.

If you're only going to choose one, after is likely your best bet. But all three would be ideal I think (that is, before, during, and after), if you can stomach it.

I typically use protein shakes (Nitrean) as a part of my post-workout nutrition protocol. As Chris mentioned it is good to ingest carbohydrates along with your protein, which can be something as simple as mixing your shake with fruit juice or dextrose/maltodextrin powder.

Depending on your current diet protocol shakes may also come in handy for pre-workout nutrition since they are generally easy on the stomach. For this I would again recommend combining your shake with some carbohydrates (oatmeal) and drinking (1) scoop of protein 45-60 minutes before training.
