I'm just trying to cut for the summer and a friend told me that running at high intensity (heart rate ~ 160) burns lots of muscle and that it's better to jog at low intensity (heart rate ~ 145). I would like to get rid of some fat and lean up, while minimizing losses in muscle mass. It's obvious that more calories get burnt overall at high intensity, but is it true that it considerably taxes muscle?
