Waxy Maize

sorry if this is a duplicate quesiton, but my search thru threads could not find any topic dedicated to Waxy Maize.
and since I been hearing so much about this stuff thought i start a discussion.

first off what is it? is it sold like flour, or grains like rice?
it's a starch so you cook it right? and eat it like a side dish?
