View Full Version : Before I get any fatter...

I figured I'd upload some pictures I took recently. Weighing around 230ish... I also measured my arms considering its been years since I last did and they're coming in on 17 inches. I've had to fight for every damn cm too, and unfortunately since I'm tall I need to get them closer to 19 or 20 before they even look decent. Filling out my frame sucks ass.

I was hoping to get up around 260ish and cut down to 220 for a state NPC show in April/May of 2011 but I highly doubt thats going to happen. I probably need another year to focus solely on growth before I try and compete.

Anyway, heres what I'm dealing with as of now. I really tried to stay lean while putting on size but it was really getting me nowhere. I've recently upped my cals dramatically and added in a lot more healthy fats. Protein is 500+ grams daily, carbs around 250-350 depending, and fats probably around 150. I really dont count my cals, I just eat every 2-3 hours getting in 50-75 grams of protein each meal, 35-50 carbs, and depending on the time of day 15-30 grams fat each. I cut carbs at night and eat more fat instead.

I have no job so right now I'm a full time bodybuilder  Just for ****s and giggles I added in my "Job Costume" at the end. I've had a few interviews the past couple weeks with a couple coming up this coming week. Hopefully I can impress at least one company...

Thanks bro. I had my sights on the Iowa State NPC show as well as the Midwest Open NPC show. I think they're actually held in the same place on the same day.

Here's a couple more I forgot to add in.

Thanks bro.

Thank you!

We'll see what I can manage to pull off, but I'm just thinking the size isn't going to be enough...

How tall are you?

What is your bf% estimate?

RE your biceps: Park "only" had 18.5" arms. Reeves was a "puny" 18" (at competition bodyfat which for them was about 8%).

Both guys were 6' 1".

I'm 6'2. As for bf, Idk 10-12%? No idea really, never had it tested.

Is this when you tell me I don't look like Steve Reeves and there's no way I can weigh 230?

Thanks Davy.

I'm surprised so many comments about my legs. I've always thought they were pretty damn small.

I'm with Tom, it's not like you are completely out of range for a show. The experience would probably be really good for you and I think most guys find it really motivating for their training.

What exactly is your point with this?

Jay, looks like you are on your way. That is a tough frame to fill out, but you are doing the best you can. A show for experience is a good idea like Travis suggested. If you wait until the situation is perfect, it may never come, or could be a let down. Get your feet wet!

You guys have a point. I'm sure in my mind I'll never be "big enough", ever. This show would be about 8 months away which gives me plenty of time to get prepared. 4 months to continue adding size and 4 to cut. I wont count myself out quite yet.

Nope. Reading some of your other threads I know you can get bigger than Reeves. You should use Arnie your benchmark perhaps. In that case, you should be shooting for 22 in. arms:

http://www.questformuscle.com/articles/arnoldschwarzenegger.html#Measurements

But isn't it interesting to know that great champions like Reeves and Park that looked as good as they did maybe aren't as big as you think they are?.......and yet they were world champions and are still revered a full 60 years after winning their titles. Go figure, huh?

My point was simply that, you suggested that you won't look even "decent" unless you have 19 or 20 inch arms. I simply pointed out that two large men and two of the best (natural) bodybuilders in the history of the sport looked great with less.

I actually thought it would make you rather happy to know that you don't really need to be quite as big as you thought to look "decent". But again, it appears that I angered you and joey instead.

No hard feelings here man. I just misinterpret your posts. Judging by your past posts in the members pics section I figured you were taking a hit at me by comparing me to the big names of the 50's and 60's to prove a point. I was wrong.

New drugs and more abundance of information regarding training and nutrition will keep pushing humans further and further. I'm sure in another 50 years Ronnie and Cutler will somehow managed to be dwarfed by the things readily available to future athletes. Crazy to think about really.

I think what you did was spin it this way after you got called out. You can post on here about Arnold having 22" arms, but it is also documented several places where his arms were never that size and close to 19" Bodybuilding is illusion as well. Based on your past posting history, which is little to nil, except to bring up how someone has a similar size to you(without you yourself ever posting pics) or to discuss how pictures compared to guys from 60-70 years ago; Jay and I were perfectly reasonable with our responses. Jay is going to have to get a lot bigger to accomplish the goals he has set out for himself, and he is only scratching the surface. He knows this, and this is why he made the statement about his arms. If you have read any of his past posts, you would know this. Way to attempt to dig yourself out of a grave, but you are just throwing dirt on yourself now.

I would like to see some of your pictures posted, and then maybe your critiques will be taken in a different light, especially if you blow us away with an amazing physique.

Everyone has a voice and can post within reason. I don't think anything posted here needs to be deleted. You state your observations and others will state theirs. If one's posting style is such that it draws the occasional ire from other members, they best be ready to be challenged on their statements. No reason to take your ball and go home. Some of the better contacts made on here start with people who have different viewpoints. I suggest you get more involved with the forum, post pics, start a journal, post more frequently in the other sections........... Comments bear much more weight coming from established, known members.

Jay is not "natural" and has never claimed to be. So, he is not really looking to achieve a Reg Park or Steve Reeves type physique. He is ultimately trying to be a freak. Meant in the kindest way Jay. Correct me if I am wrong.
