Hey guys, I dont post on here often, usually when I hit a milestone or hear about something. Well today we maxed out in weight training/conditioning. Today was the 2nd day of our max out, first day was Squat/Powercleans, today was Deadlift, Bench. First off is my stats.

Squat . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 350 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 2nd in class
Bench. . . . . . . . . . . . . . 225 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 3rd
Deadlift . . . . . . . . . . . . 425 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 2nd
Powerclean . . . . . . . . 205 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 1st!

Goals by x mas:
Squat . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 370
Bench . . . . . . . . . . . . . 240
deadlift . . . . . . . . . . . . .450
Powerclean . . . . . . . . .225

I wish I would have got a video of the guy that beat me on deadlift. He literally reached down straight legged and lifted 430 to his waist. Whats even worse is I had to be the one to say something, coach didnt say anything about it and marked it off. Then he (the guy that beat me) told me I was just mad because he beat me, though I wouldnt be mad anyway he has over 40 pounds on me . . .

It is one of my harder classes to get through just because of the form I have to watch. Its pretty funny on the other hand too, I watched one kid yell out in glory as he deadlifted 215 . . . all with rubber plates, so total he had like 8 plates on there. Oh and the screaming! The weak bastards that have to scream as they barely get 135 up on bench. Then the guys telling me im going too low on squats, as they go down like half way and struggle to get it up with hundreds less then im doing. I just have to laugh. I tell them to work on form, and they tell me form will come if they do more weight. *sigh* I really need to hide a camera. Well thats my rant. :D

omg high school weight lifting lol. High squats, ass off benches, rounded back deadlifts. Was this for football? Football kids have the worst form. Congrats on your lifts. Cheers to a fellow utah lifter.

It's not cool to make fun of people for being weaker than you. But yes, I'm sure most people's form on just about everything is horrendous.

that's too bad. not only is he likely to end up in a wheelchair pulling **** like that, but he could definitely move more weight if he got his legs involved. any coach worth half a damn would break him of that habit

Oh I didnt explain. The "weak" kid is a guy I dont get along with that well, in fact he used to bully me . . . before my growth spurt. I told the deadlift guy he cant do deads that way but he said it hurts his back to do it right . . . ironically. The coach is a drop out college football player with maxes lower than mine except on bench press, I know that doesnt matter its all about how he teaches us . . . but he doesnt teach us very well. Several of them ask me how I got my lifts so high and I told them and even gave them the starting strength routine, but they said "if that worked the coach would have us on it, it must just be your genetics." Ive seen kids on bench that only have their shoulders touching the pad.

Nobody spots decent, I dont go near my max unless I have my good friends near me, that know how to spot. The first time I failed a bench rep was the worse day in that class. I got it down but couldnt get it more than about 8 inches up. While I was struggling with the bar my spotter was over getting a drink out of the fountain, he said " I thought you had it". haha I had to lower the bar onto my stomach and jockey my hands around until it was uneven and one side hit the floor, then somebody noticed and came to help. Yes 90% of the class is football players (including me) the rest are soccer or baseball players. We won our first game in almost 2 years about 3 weeks ago . . . last year we were 0-16 . . .

Well forget about those kids who don't wanna listen to you on how to lift properly (if you are telling them right). I've tried to teach many people how to lift right when I see them doing it wrong.. But they usually don't listen. :/

Football kids have the worst form

Where you are from, they might have the worst form. At my school, only a few have horrible form but thats because they are never in the weight room. The ones that are in the weight room most of the time have great form, but coaches say I have the best form (especially on cleans).

I guess another reason why we have good form is because a couple of our coaches have made it to the NFL drafts and got cut towards the end. :/

Completly anecdotal, but in my high school i find that football players generally have the best form (still pretty bad though). One guy can do 405 for sets of six completly to depth on the squat. id say generally lifting weights is more important to football players then most other athletes (not saying that htey nessicarly benefit from it more, which they might, but simply for combine ppurposes and such it is very important). Alot of the hockey players and such (its canada so generally much more hockey players then anything else) cant even half squat 200.
