Are pork chops OK for a low fat diet? Fat/protien ratio good? Friend of mine said they are low fat/high protien and wanted to check.
Relentless

you be the judge . . . .
according to a reference I use for calories/info,
2.5oz of broiled porkchop, fat removed = ~165 calories, 23g protein, 2.6g of saturated fat
leave the fat on, and that becomes ~275 calories, about the same in protein, but with 7g of fat
you can compare this to a broiled lean sirloin beef steak, which has ~150 calories, 22g protein and 2.6 fat for the same kind of portion... again, leaving the fat on ups the calories and fat count to 240/6.4g respectively
Some people I've talked to say that pork chops make them bloat for mysterious reasons and/or break out in acne across the neck and shoulders. I don't eat pork myself . . . .
Cheers,
