View Full Version : Powerbelt 13mm vs 10mm

Hi guys,

Brian here,

5'9, 205 lbs,

I know there are lots of thread on this topic,

I am going to buy APT or Inzer belts,

Just wondering


a) How much increase in support does a 13mm belt offer compared to a 10mm belt

b) My max Deadlift is 450 lbs and Squat 350 lbs, so is the 10mm perfect for my needs, even if I eventually become stronger,

c) Are the 13mm Powerbelts aimed for those Guys Competing in Powerlifting, or for the Bigger belly 270+ lbs Powerlifters, or for those who lift really heavy weights

d) 13mm vs 10mm Powerbelt




I dont compete in PL,

I just train to be fit and strong,

I've used both, and honestly couldn't tell a difference. If you like the 10mm, I would get that

The 13mm is too thick and bulky for my liking.

I have both.

The only time I've ever noticed a real difference was squatting heavy in full gear. I liked the 13mm better for that.

For most uses either will be fine.

I think that for bigger guys the 13mm might make it tough to get down to the bar to deadlift, but that won't be a huge problem for most.

Vincent if you were still at 290+ I would have made "thick and bulky" a joke here, but I don't feel like I can rightfully do that with the new and improved leaner Vincent!

However if Travis steps in here I may have something to say...

But back to the original subject, I can see why some shorter guys have problems with a thicker belt, particularly when pulling

If your aiming to just train for strength and not compete, Id say dont use a belt. Otherwise a 10mm

Yeah like some said, lay off the belt for most of your stuff if your goals stay hte same.

Now for something maybe you can relate to. I am 5'8", have weighed at my highest 230, and i have a 13 mm belt. My body is probably a bit different structure but still somewhat close, for one the belt can leave some really nasty marks, and overall the 13 might not be necessary. I do however lift a lot more weight when i have it on. I also have a somewhat short torso which can be a problem, and I notice it.
