View Full Version : Good flooring for shed gym?

I am going to turn the oversided shed at my new home into my home gym due to not wanting to ruin my finished basement.
The shed floor is wooden and I want to put something down to protect the floor and not go through it when I deadlift. Any ideas?

I would think any use that is going to ruin a basement floor would definately ruin a shed floor. I really have no advice as I cant imagine much that is going to stop a couple hundred pounds falling on a wooden floor from damaging it or the floor joists.

rubber matting from tractor supply then a few layers of 3/4" plywood will handle heavy deadlifts easily

Like Butcher said, you're going to have to reinforce the floor of that shed before you will want to do heavy deadlifts in it. Those floors are usually very cheap plywood and it's been sitting out in the moisture for some time, it's not going to be very strong.
Adding 2 or 3" of quality plywood along with some rubber mats would be the first step.
