View Full Version : 300x2 Raw Bench

Week 3/Day 3 of 30 pounds in 30 days. I am programming this a little differenty. Instead of using my real max (which is unknown), I set my target weight for the last day of the program to be at least 315x1, so the first 3 weeks are a little higher in weight than normal. I have never done 300 pounds for more than 1 rep before but I got it pretty easily for 2 sets of 2 today.

I realize I arch pretty good, but don't forget that I am 6'5" with VERY long arms. The tips offroad, travis, and adambag gave me for setting up way back on the bench helped my unracking of the bar tremendously.

Nice work!!! I would try tucking your elbows more as you bring the bar down.

Good reps. I think you could have gotten 315 right there. You for sure had another rep in you at 305... maybe 2 more.

I agree, I definitely would have gotten 1 more rep. I could have thrown 315 on and gotten it probably, but I am trying to be patient :). Who knows, maybe I will double 315 next friday. That would be sweet.

Do you think tucking my elbows more would give me better leverage off the chest? I have tried tucking more before but I always felt awkward with it and the weight always felt 100 pounds heavier.

Your arch was just fine. There is nothing wrong with arching like that depending on your goals.

Thanks, probably would have no shoulder left if I kept benching with a flat back.
