I've seen logs where people have used 60-70% of 1rm is that ok to use that high on a speed day as long as the speed aspect is still there

The speed part is the most important aspect. You can look up videos of them training to get a feel for the pace. If you fall below that pace, reduce weight.

So, I say do as much weight you can while maintaining proper pace. I have a very hard time believing anyone can lift 70% as fast as you can 50%, though.

Yeah, also the weight can be a lot higher if it's just straight weight and you're not using band tension or chains.

I haven't gone over 50% bar weight in awhile. I don't have a desired % to start or work up to. I just throw weight on and keep going up until I feel the bar starting to move slow, which is usually right at 50%. IMO, I don't see anything wrong with the amount of weight on the bar or the amount of tension you use, as long as the bar moves fast then you should be ok. Rule of thumb: 3 reps as fast as you would take to do a 1RM.

70% would probably be too high. Especially at your current bench.

It'd be better to focus on the speed as well as perfecting your technique
