Awesome seeing you off and running with such a fine head start...can't go wrong starting out this way at 15 years of age. Just don't quit, be patient and stay at it no matter - can't imagine where you will be in a few years.

Thanks for the feed back guys. My dad bought me an olympic weight set for christmas, and I just went out today and bought a bench... I can squat on it but im gonna invest in a rack dwon the road. i also bought a tower for dips and pullups, and 2 dumbells that change weight along with 110 lbs of weight for them.

Oh and a Question is it ok to dumbell press with one dumbell at a time I dont have enough weight to do them both I use 70s.

Parker 1995
12-28-2010, 04:57 PM
Ok guys well day 2 was kinda bad cause i ordered my bench and it hasent come in yet, and my bench has a aquat option on it so for my squats it was a clean in to front squat.

another question when is the best time to drink my protein shakes? I have been having them in the morning when I wake up.

Try to get one before you work out, then another afterwards, as well as some during your workout.

Make sure you are eating alot of protein from food. You need alot more calories than you think. I highly recommend drinking atleast a half gallon of milk a day.

NEVER QUIT BRO

Good work Parker. Ever thought about working out at a gym instead of at home? Nothing wrong with working out at home, but you'll have a larger selection of equipment and weight at a commercial gym.

Strong back squat.

Thanks man I really like the rows i think thats the hardest part of my workout my goal is to get them up to 90lbs before the end of january;) Oh I mean not the hardest, but hurt the most I think i am going to need to do some farmers walks or grip training for my dead Lifts and rows.

Remind me of myself. We had an old weight set in the garage I messed with when I was 13-14. When I was 15 I joined the y near my dads house but on weeks I was at my moms couldn't get there very often so I had to make due with the old crap til I was 16. Then 3 weeks after I got my license I got a speeding ticket and my mom grounded me from the gym (because it was the only thing that would get to me I guess. Tv or something I wouldn't have cared). Anyhow it was back to the garage for a few months at that point. When I think about this it still really upsets me to this day and think my mom was wrong for it, she should have given me more chores or something, not tried to take exercise away from me.

Anyway, keep at it man. I like the start I'm seeing in here a lot. Make us proud.

Is parker your first name?

You should ask your question on how to manage both MMA fighting and lifting in the bodybuilding and weight training section. I'd like to give you advice there but really couldn't. I know the MMA fighters that fight out of my gym seem to very rarely weight train and when they do it's nothing real impressive (not that they're trying to impress). I just mean that the kind of energy and intensity that their MMA work takes it seems they have little left to invest in weights.

It was very good. You have very solid strength for your size. It's refreshing to see someone young actually using a quality routine. As long as you're pushing yourself and eating, you'll definetly make big gains.

Thank you i am trying to get food in me but its hard sometimes i think i might need to ttry the bako shake. I also never knew when your body is about to crack as in reps lets say 135 for bench your on rep 2 you can usually push 2 more out. I think i could of gotten another maybe even 2 but no spotter, and did not want to risk it.

Have you tried DB benching? IMO a better movement overall and no need for a spotter.

Where'd ya read that? BBing.com teen section or sumthin? It's mostly BS if you ask me. I see better gains in size and strength when I stick with a movement for many months and add 30-40 pounds on it. I will too.

My advice would be to disregard what BBing.com or your friends at the gym say because they are most likely wrong. Variation can be a useful tool, but IMO why switch an exercise when you're still progressing on it?

This.

But if I remember correctly, if you didn't have a six pack or deal drugs in high school, your chances of slaying anything higher than a 6 were slim.

expend? and can it be junk food?

Behemoth

Eat more calories than you burn.

It can be junk food. But make sure you get in good food too. If you're eating junk all day and don't meet your protein quota you're in trouble. I would focus on eating a lot of good bodybuilding food, but would not avoid some normal food like ice cream or cereal or stuff like that if you want it too.

Quick ? Do I only eat a ton on the days I lift, and Can I do Cardio/intervals on off days?

Behemoth
02-05-2011, 08:33 PM
You should eat a lot on all days, consistently. Know at least a rough amount of the calories you're eating each day so that if you feel you are gaining too fast or too slow you can accurately adjust.

You can do cardiio. Try to monitor if you feel more beat up from it and if its keeping your lifting from progressing. If it is you may want to think about scaling it back or dropping it.

That's not Starting Strength...

Listen to Behemoth about the eating. Get your protein and calories in EVERY DAY.

Keep the conditioning to a minimum. I like to suggest no more than 2 sessions a week at 20 minutes if you are trying to gain.

Re-read Starting Strength and do it as written, it'll be much better with the sets accross and back squats. Drop the little accessory lifts when the main lifts start to get heavy so you use your full recouperative powers on the main lifts.

When you say Light weight how light exactly? I am doing the Box Squat Variation simply Beacuse I do not know how low to go in Squats and I like to go ATG.

Light enough to complete all 3 sets of 5 and not struggle.

Using a box to judge depth is fine if you have a habit of squatting high. There is no such thing as squatting too low if you ask me.

Do as many warmup sets as you need. Then hit one max set.
