I could squat or pull 135 without my back seizing up and messing me up for days after a nasty squat accident...

I'm now tripling 650 in just a belt off the floor and hit 500 for 3 and 545 for a solid single right after in squats at 220. I'm officially rehab'd and stronger than I've ever been in my entire career at this bodyweight. Here's to 1600+ raw this year@220!

Goes to show ya no matter how bad your injury be it tears, pulls, mental breakdowns, WHATEVER...if you want to come back and aren't afraid to push up to and past where you were before it happened..you can! ALL THE BEST TO YOU GUYS AND GALS in 2011!!!

Great job! That's a road I'm familiar with and it isn't easy.

Awesome!

I'm similarly about a year out from the last time I really hurt my back (first injury July 2009). I'm back squatting and pulling 315 for reps. It's great to hear people overcome injuries! Gives me hope I can too!

I can't wait until my back gets better so I squat and deadlift heavy again. This sucks doing 135 and 225 lbs.

how'd you end up hurting your back adam?

I was warming up to do some sumo pulls, had maybe 225 or 315 on the bar, and my left foot slipped. It made me lurch forward and twist some. Herniated disk. It was just bad luck and poor judgment. We were pulling in a gym I'd not trained at much and the flooring was worn down. I had just pulled 690 at a meet, so this was very light weight. Things just happen I guess.

Over the next 6 months I kept trying to come back and re-injuring it. December 2009 was the latest real setback and since then I've just decided to be bench only and build my squat and deadlift back from scratch. Started at the bar until I was ready to used 531. A bit over a year later I'm pulling and squatting 315+ for reps, but I still don't feel ready for heavy work. The pain is chronic now, nothing really acute anymore. Mostly sciatic pain.
