View Full Version : Need help figuring out how many calories I need a day

I'm 26 years old 5'9" and my goal is to get to 185lbs and about 10% body fat. Iv been seeing that if you want to be a certain size you eat what that size of person would eat to maintain that weight. So my question is how many calories, carbs, protein, and fat do I need a day? Iv came up with 3300 calories, 278g protein and carbs, and 93g fat a day. Is that close or way off? Thanks for your help.

How much do you weigh now and what is your bodyfat percentage now?

I'm 170lbs and about 20-22% bodyfat.

An online calculator told me the calories and I was always told to eat 1.5g per body weight of protein and carbs and .5g of fat.

Eat exactly that intake for 2 weeks and weigh each morning. Come back here and post your weight for each day afterwards and I'll help you adjust for your goals.

I did it for six weeks now and I gained consistantly .2lbs a day. I'm now at 177lbs and 19% BF but it seems like I'm gaining more fat than I should be as seen in a mirror even though my calipers say other wise. Advice? Thanks

You've gained 7 pounds in 6 weeks -- that is a good healthy rate. You have to accept that some fat comes along with bulking up but if you're lifting hard you've probably gained a very good ratio of lean mass:not lean mass.

So I will continue this till I hit 185 but when I get there what should I do at that point? Should I cut or what? Thanks
