i was searching for accurate nutritional info for a rib eye steak and found so called "verified" data from livestrong.com

1lb of rib eye steak is 1243cals, 100g fat which is 900 of the calories then 79grams of protein... does that sound right?

The rib eye i was cooking was 1.3lbs which, if right, is a shit load of calories and a lot of them from fat!

Ribeyes AFAIK are the fattiest steak out there. Very tasty though.

Depending on the cut it should be around 880-1520 calories per 16 ounces, but the marbeling of the beef will be the determing factor of the macro breakdown and total calories. Ribeye steaks are not optimal unless just trying to reach a high caloric intake.

fitday gave me 603cals, 19grams of fat and 100grams of protein for 1lb!!
that's a big difference in grams of fat and protein...

It was pretty fatty, i'll just go with 1000 cals, 80 fat and 80 protein for this meal and try get something easier to record for next time, any suggestions bradley?

I usually eat top sirloin, which are fairly lean but still have that tender steak taste. Although if it is a special meal out with the fiancee or something like that I go for the new york strip or ribeye. The ribeye you posted above looked quite tasty though.:)

Walmart sells packages of pre seasoned sirloins that are delicious. You get three seperately packaged 4oz steaks $4 or $5 (can't remember). They're 100cal and some of the leanest you'll find. I think the package lists 25g protein 0g fat (so not enough for them to count 1g per 4oz, damn!). Since they're packaged in marinade they are sooo tender and tastey. 5 minutes and you have a 4, 8 or 12oz resturaunt quality steak with killer macros.
