View Full Version : When should I weigh my rice?

At the packet it says: 100 grams gives 360 kcals. But is those 100 grams BEFORE or AFTER you have boiled (cooked) the rice? I have always weighed my 100 grams of rice after I cooked it, and I think maybe now that this is wrong...This really is very important because rice is an essential part of my diet, giving me my slow carbs, and when it's so nutritious 50 or 100 grams of rice really make a huge impact on my total kcals a day....

the 360 cals per 100g is before its cooked chief, weigh it b4, once cooked it is heavier so youve probalbly been consuming less than you think, from what you have said

Since rice keeps so nicely in the fridge, I cook a ton of it and refrigerate what I don't use. 1 cup of cooked rice looks like this (assumes no fat added in cooking):

203 cal
44 carbs
4 protein

cal 215
fat 1g
carbs 44g
protein 5g

Just my $.02 on it.
