Just measured my bodyfat using callipers and US naval BF methods. Both came out with 15.8% consisting of 29.54kg of bodyfat and 157.5kg of lean mass. I would like to hit around 12% before i add some bulk again. How long do you think it will take to drop 4%

I've done a little calculation.

7kg of fat to loose (15lbs)

15lbs X 3500 (fat in 1lb) / 1000 (defect)

= around 8 weeks

Does this sound about right? - also is a 1000 cal cut an ok amount to loose? I want to retain as much mass as possible!
This is my first cut and i dont want to have un reasonable expectations for myself. Any advice on dropping between these numbers is also welcome, i understand that it shouldnt be too difficult too achieve this.

Thanks in advance all!

You are over 400lbs at 15% bodyfat? Did you mean lbs instead of kgs? Am I failing at the metric system?

PS, I have been cutting by a 1000 calories a day and havent lost any strength although I do eat maintenence one day a week. I have actually gained some strength on my weakpoints. You just have to monitor it. At 15% I would cut by a 1k then see if I lose strenght. If not keep on truckin.....

Depends on your genetics and where your setpoint is. But for the average person whose on a good diet I'd say going from 16% to 12% would be about 6-8 weeks.
