The tentative dates are September 10th-13th for qualifiers and then 16th & 17th for the finals.

I might try to make the finals, during school though, so it could be rough

sure hope they do a better job at promoting this than when it was in WVa
there was no way to find out about tickets, where specific venues for certain events, hotel lodging etc.

After hanging out with a bunch of the guys at Poundstone's wedding, Jess and I said we might make the trip. Other than feelling small it would be a good time.

I agree with the promotion.. there should be thousands in attendance for the finals... not a hundred or so like the past... maybe with the university setting, more of the college folks will attend...

As for tickets, there usually are none... events have always been free in the past... get there early and you get the best spots...

With a "named" university as host, a majority (if not all) of the events should be on campus ...
So get lodging that would typically be available for home football games..
There should be plenty of open hotel rooms - if you go to the Wingate University Athletics page, there are away football games both weekends.. and it looks like only a home Volleyball and Cross Country meet during Friday Sept. 16th during WSM finals.

A group of us are roadtripping down from NH - perhaps an RV... 15 hour ride... should have an awesome tailgate set up..

since were on the topic of strongman i was wondering a few things... right now me and my buddy have been doing a little strongman work in his backyard for a few weeks we have a 300lb tire couple kegs trying to build a farmers walk ect. i was wondering since we can flip the 300lb tire back and forth pretty easily how do we gauge how heavy a tire to get. i was thinking about picking up a 500lb next i currently pull 405 and he pulls 495 so would this be a reasonable size or is it too soon.

Have these dates been finalized yet? I really want to make the drive down and want to get a hotel reservation in early.

start a new thread

but it really depends on if you are doing it for conditioning or for strongman training for a competition that has tire flips in it.

I am going to make the qualifier events on the weekend and the finals on the 21st & 22nd. I've never viewed a Worlds Strongest Man Competition before and am unclear if the events have admission costs, parking, traveling between venues, and how to read the schedule and groupings correctly to catch my favorite athletes. Any tips & hints for a newbie would be appreciated.
