OK, this was my last heavy training session before my meet. I have battled a few injuries and am actually getting healthier as I go. This was by far the toughest training cycle I have ever had. I have pushed my training, conditioning, and diet harder than ever before. I really feel like it is starting to pay dividends.
My best floor press regardless of bodyweight was 555 and I know I am at least 20 lbs. lighter now. I came in wanting a 560. Warm ups felt awful, but Brian said feeling awful is the key to a good night. I didn't buy it, but I pressed on-literally. With the 560 I kept the mood light hearted. I wanted to treat it like the rest of my lifting. To my surprise it went easier than I thought. Now I was torn about shutting it down or not. I figured one more lift would be like a third attempt at a meet. I had to go for it. Again, quite surprised, the 570 felt even better. I'd be lying if I said I didn't want to go again, but I held back and finished up with a light work set.
