View Full Version : My Super Squats-Stronglifts hybrid.

Alright everyone, youve all heard of stronglifts 5x5 great for building strength. Super squats also very popular, puts on serious size. Personally i think strength is more important but size is also important. So i made hybrid of both what do you guys think?:
Workout A
Squat 5x5
Bench 5x5
Barbell rows 3x5
Lat Pulldowns 3x5
bicep work 3x8

Workouts B
20 rep breathing squat
1x20 light pullovers immediatley after squat
iincline or overhead press 5x5
Deadlift 1x5
Tricep Work 3x8

alternate workout a and b 3 times a week(ex.ABA,BAB) add 5lbs each workout(not totally necessary for tricep and bicep work):clown::moon: Opinions, critiques, tips etc. any feed back accepted.

What are youre stats and how has the routine been going for you so far? Or did you start yet? And have you gone through a sl 5x5 before or the Squat for size?

Have you done [hard] 20 rep breathing squats before? You will be pretty fatiged and I don't think you'd want to follow them up with a max set of 5 rep deadlifts. I'd probably re-think the exercise order a little.

Yes i have done SL5x5 before and ive done a heavy 20 rep squat before buit not the super squats program. i didnt start this yet im starting on monday. thanks for tip ill put the 20 rep squat on the bench day and the 5x5 on the deadlift day. and i weigh 180 lbs.
Maxes:
Squat 305
Bench 155
Deadlift: 260(deadlift is low due to me straining my back a couple monthes ago and healing slowly.)
Ive been powerlifting for 8 monthes and i wanna compete some day. and i think this program is great for me and other beginner because itll build a good strength base and size at the same time.
