I've heard that ingesting too much protein sucks calcium from your bones or something. Is this true or myth?

Thanks.

At what levels?

Apparently as low as 75 grams a day can cause problems according to this

See paragraphs 12-13

Personally...I don't know how much stock to put in this...:tuttut:

To answer the question it may but I don't think that 75 grams a day is going to do any damage, Sure the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition is a reputable source...but I would like to see the actual study. I'll look for it.

Fear not and eat your protein.

The freedomyou article didn't look too credible, almost looked like someone opinion about it and how the American government is in a conspiracy to keep people sick and relying on doctors, etc, haha.

According to FitDay I'm taking in 674% of my recommended daily allowance of protein, and 274% of RDA for calcium.

I guess I'll either be passing a stone or some of my bones.

My sentiments exactly.

If 75 grams of protein was enough to leach calcium I figure about every bone in my body would be broken about 3 time over.

That's why I went looking for the source and found it was taken out of context.

Yeah, I take in over 330 grams of protein a day...I'm sure I'm going to break every bone in about 10 years, oh well.

Is it better to stick with the 1g per 1lb of bodyweight with protein? I weigh about 180 but take abotu 300g protein a day... could this be overdoing it?

Not at all. Hell, HCT-12 recommends up to 1.5g/body weight.

Different strokes for different folks. In my opinion, if you're taking in 350 grams of protein and feel you're using it, and not losing it in the end, literally, take it. I took in just under 400 grams one day, and crapped a huge lunker, just figured it was because the excesively high protein intake that day, but was a lot of fun.

considering that weight baring exercise is recommended for improving bone density, I'm sure most of us will be okay...
