Personally, I have done a 180 on this. I used to think creatine worthless while dieting. Now, I think it helps to minimize muscle loss. It will not hinder fat-loss, although it will make you retain more water, so it may seem as if it is.

It is generally VERY difficult, if not impossible, to lose fat and build muscle simultaneously. Some people can pull it off, but both their diet and training are impeccable; even if both these conditions are satisfied, many are still unable to do both at once. Building muscle requires an excess of calories; losing fat requires a deficit of calories(This is something of a simplification, but it tends to be true) These are two mutually exclusive conditions. Unless you are just beginning with weights, focusing on one of these two goals, rather than trying to do both, will almost certainly lead to better results.

I'm with Blood&Iron on this issue. The man is absolutely right.

Losing fat and gaining muscle is a *****ING MISSION -namely impossible (at least for me).

I personally feel that Creatine made me gain a little fat while I used it - I gained a few pounds in muscle too but I was using Celltech - the dextrose in one serving invarably cannot be broken down by the body fast enough, so it inevitably ends up resulting in fat gain as the calories get stored instead of used. And I used the seervings before going to the gym for my workout.

If you must use creatine (celltech type powders) then halve the servings - don't use a whole sering in one go unless you really can break all the calories down rapidly.

what if somone is cutting at 10% below their bmr, but is gaining strength every week. since i have been cutting, i have put 10lbs on my 10 rep max for squats, and i have added 5lbs on my db press (each dumbell) for my 8 rep max. this has been over the course of 3 weeks.

At the very least is this a sign that im retaining most of my muscle on a ckd? Or is it possible that im losing muscle but still am gaining strength?

I don't see how creatine can create body fat. I could be wrong here, but I don't think pure creatine contains any calories. I know there are some creatine brand that will put dextrose in it to help the creatine absorb better, so I guess that could help you add fat if taking too much.

thatz nothing to do with calorie..
creatine absorb waters into muscle cell and make it bigger..
think about ballon..
itz same effect..when ur muscle get bigger, ur fat will increase a little bit..not that huge chunk of fat..

therez the way u can decrease fat while on creatine..
take ALA..alpha lipoic acid..it really helps..

yep - I'm not talking about creatine in itself as a chemical, but the other creatine powders/delivery systems which contain all that sugar and ****e to get the creatine and hence the water in your muscles - I'm talking about stuff like celltech that has all that dextrose crap in it which is just too too much for the body to handle in one go so it ends up turning to fat - so cut the recommended serving down.
