This site remings me of the free weight gym....few if any girls in the house. Well Iam here with all my womaness looking to learn a thing or two on this site. For anyone interested in my fitness journey I will post short version of my day-to-day journey towards the body beautiful. For those interested in the long version I will post a link to my blog.

I am 46 years young, I have 3 beautiful daughters age 23, 19, and 15 and a handsome son age 21. I have 2 grandchilden...a boy 17 months old and a girl currently 4 months old. I am happily married and work full time at a hospital.

I love to train and I want to look good and training and good nutrition is a must to look good at my age. I am planning on competing in a figure competition in November. It will be my first.

I like to journal/blog and read everybody elses journal. I hate drama, rudeness, know it alls, and judgemental people. I plan to be on this site routinely and visit the forums often. I will start my journaling later .

I hate to start my journal off on a poor note, but I am just having one of those days where nothing is going right. Usually I am upbeat and positive. Not today. I plan to go to the gym and do some moderate cardio to get my endorphins moving. I would train, but I better not cuz I have my power workout tomorrow. So I will just go do boring cardio.

Haha Angel and Devil Annette are awesome! Sadly, I have many of the same issues, I do great for 12 days during my keto phase, and then 13-14 I go crazy with carbs and processed foods, lucky charms being public enemy number one for me. I've recently changed a few things around that will hopefully keep me more strict, and that's limiting the number or refeed days to just one for the diet.

Power workout looks strong! Great work.

Well the Olympia is right around the corner and I am up a few pounds. I took a diet break all this week and the next and have been having too much fun. I got on the scales and was up to 140...yikes.:omg: What the heck...lol. So today I have been good as gold and I plan to be for the next week because I refuse to be walking around the expo or the Olympia shows looking "thick".

I am off UD2 for a few weeks, :tuttut: but I better watch may calories a bit more and keep my protein up.

I am staying at a hotel off the strip that has a fitness center. It has all the dumbells I need and a bench. That is really all I need to keep my training going through the week in Vegas. I plan to train Monday and Tuesday, off Wednesday and maybe Thursday (I will be visiting a friend in Utah those days) and then I plan to train on Friday. Off Saturday and Sunday...then back to my UD2 diet on Monday

What kind of volume do your training sessions consist of?

Amrn65

Currently I am doing Lyle McDonalds Ultimate Diet 2.0 which consists of 2 days of high volume glycogen depletion training, 1 day of a tension workout in the 8-10 rep range and one power workout in the 3-6 rep range. All full body workouts ( 4 full body workouts a week).

I had a blast in Vegas. I just took the time to write about my experience!! My diet sucked in Vegas and I am only 9 weeks out from my contest. Oh well...time to nail things down hard and I do have a plan to do just that! I think I can hit my goal in 9 weeks of no cheating and alot of hard training.

The Olympia was great!! I had a super fun time. What made me feel the best is that everywhere I went people asked me if I compete. So, I must be doing something right and am moving in the right direction at least. The funniest thing happened as I was at a booth looking at some contest suits. This asian lady asked me if I was planning to do figure or bikini as I was looking at the beautiful lime green sequined suit...it was a smaller suit. She said, that one might fit...then she looked at my butt and said...oh no it won't. You have a big butt!! Wow...that was humbling lol....gotta love her for tellin it like it is. She makes dozens of suit and she knows what a figure body should look like. She then asked me how many pounds am I planning to lose. I told her 12-15 pounds. She smiled and then stated that it should fit me good then and left me her card.....LOL

Thanks for popping in and out. My blog contains training at times, my thoughts at times, and pictures regularly. Currently I am doing MET training which is difficult to post...most people dont have a clue what the exercises are. I usually post progress pictures every 4-6 weeks. When and if I start training for a show or going to have photos done you will see more training stuff.....probably the stuff you are looking to read about. Until then....you may certainly choose to skip over my "blog"

Just remember to stay mentally tough. If you possess the drive to train your ass off, you have the drive to eat right. Perhaps you and I are on different planes of thought with what a good cheat is. I believe in one cheat meal a week (ONE) as opposed to an entire day of cheating. Regardless of whatever methodology, we both agree that food psychology plays a big factor into how happy we are, and how much our desire for these bad foods are sated.

For me, it's a matter of just saying no and walking away - and that is hard.

Keep at it, Annette! Nice to see the metcons are working for you.

Thanks Rob! I have some great role models to look up to...you being one of them. I like to train hard....training is not my issue at all. Food is my vice that I am trying to overcome. As far as a cheat day versus a cheat meal a week.....I just made that commitment to my coach...one cheat meal.

One of coaches exercises hit me very deep. He likened refined processed foods to crack cocaine and explained the science behind some of the challenges of overindulging on junk. Just making that cognitive association opened my eyes to what I am doing to myself with these crazy cheats. I now link the cookies, cakes, and junk that I crave to crack cocaine....which I would NEVER do to my body. I love myself to much to do crack.......so why would cookies, candy etc be any different? So, I am going to eat that stuff minimally.....once a week. I am going to do this Rob!!!

Thanks for being a role model my young but very wise friend. (((hugs)))

Hell, I stay clean 6 days a week, and enjoy my one cheat meal a week now. I loved doing keto diets, and able to carb up for an entire day eating whatever I wanted to, but with the switch to a more stable, sane diet, it's been a lot different. On my cheat day, I basically follow an intermittent fasting approach, and load up in a 4 hour window. I try and keep things clean, but I don't fret if I get a little dirty from time to time. There's absolutely no sense in being so strict that you're just going to fall off the wagon 1,000 times, then your mentality and motivation get all shot to hell. Be realistic with yourself, and with your coach about things.

Mark, I used to do the keto diet with carb load from Friday night to Saturday and I loved that diet. Like you I am on a more balanced diet with my coach but my carb load mentality did not change on my cheat day. I am going to do the one cheat meal instead of the cheat day. Tonite will be my cheat meal which will probably consist of a huge burger and fries and some type of dessert. Then back to the clean diet.

I agree that eating too clean all of the time will just set me up for a binge and like you say, all the mental anguish and guilt will set in. Thanks Mark!

As long as you're losing when your on your diet, you're golden. Don't wanna fire all your guns at once, because then when you stall you'll have to make drastic changes. Right now, if you were to stall, you could just modify the type of food intake for the cheat meal and likely bounce back to losing quite nicely. You've done amazing work, and you look absolutely amazing girl, keep it up.

Rob,

It is pretty much like super setting...very little to no rest breaks and I am hitting it hard. I pretty much hot the nausea state by the 3rd set of each exercise but I never lost my cookies....yet. It is not a sissy workout by any stretch of the imagination but I am seeing nice progress even in my off season. I see some leg sweep and my butt is off the thighs for sure :). I plan to start "cutting" after the first of the year. What I truly mean is eating right and training at the same time. I know if I eat right I will get pretty cut on this program!
