I did some seated pin presses today, and I have some questions about them.

1- I did them seated and from my squat rack because that was the only way to do them in my garage. My press sticking point is at my eyes/forehead, but I did them starting at my chin. Was that a good idea or no?

2- I found the performance to be the same as with my press. Is this because I still couldn't get past my sticking point, (which is where I failed on the same weights this workout as the last time when I did a press 1RM)?

1) I personally wouldn't start them below the eyes/top of the ears. In my experience with them seated they can irritate the crap out of your shoulders if you start them lower with a pause on the pins.

2) probably.

Okay, so should I be starting right at the forehead level?

Also, granted I've only done this once, but I was able to get my posture just right on the end of my bench (back touching nothing) so that I could move my head forward as the bar cleared it, just as if I were standing. I think that will keep from irritating my shoulders, I suppose time will tell.
