My comeback meet was a big success. It was my 1st meet since the shoulder replacement surgery 10 month ago and only 6 month of training after the doc released me to train without restrictions. It was also my 1st meet at 242s since the 2003 AWPC Worlds. I was in the 55-59 masters division at the APF Louisiana/Mississippi Open Championships yesterday Oct. 8th. I broke the American Record in the squat with my opener of 733 lbs. Then squatted 755 to raise it before missing my 3rd with 804. I knew I'd be down on my BP still at this point, but was very happy for 6 month back at it. I opened with 451 and got it. Then good at 462. I tried 479 but couldn't get it locked out. In my excitement at being back I forgot to eat anything during the meet after breakfast and I think that bit me on deadlifts. My 551 opener felt heavier than it should going up but went up solidly. I went to 584 instead of my planned 600 but even that stalled about 6 inches off the floor. I tried it again with the same result, so I had to settle with just one DL. It was enough however to give me the total record by 17 pounds with 1769. The previous squat record had been 726 so I took it by 29 pounds. I am very confident at this point that I'll be back to my old numbers or better by Nationals!

Nice, what numbers and total do you feel confident that you will hit at the nationals?

How long have you've been at this and you forgot to eat? Seriously, great comeback meet! Congratulations at training with/through adversity and hitting some new records.

Back to opening in the low 800's for squats instead of trying to finish there, and opening at 600 or low 600's on BP. Then finishing in the lower 600's on the DL. I've never been a great DLer...just decent. I usually look to total in the high 1900's to lower 2000's when I'm being a realist. But usually take 3rd's that would put me higher just in case I'm having that day when everything just falls into place!

LOL! Too long to make a rookie mistake like that. I was lifting and had 3 other lifters in the meet; and with a few bomb outs the flights got real short and fast. I was back and forth between lifting, handling, and coaching I just forgot to eat! It was still fun and a great time though!

Last I heard was Worlds was in West Palm Beach for 2012. I hope it is Vegas! Either one; yes! I'll see you there! I'd better look at the meet schedule again!

Just read your report on PL Watch. Great comeback. With your confidence up, I'm sure you'll hit your goals in the Nationals. Best of luck!
