What can I buy that's not to expensive? I've gained quite a bit of weight since I first joined here I'm around 5'10, 230Lbs (haven't lifted in prob 10-12 months, so body fat % is pretty high) I want to get back into shape to try out for the RB position in football next year. (Sept 2012)

I only remember a few things I used to buy, I hate cooking when dieting so quick easy things would be best.

The term diet is thrown around too loosely. Everyone is on a diet, of some sort. What your diet consists of is another.

Chicken breast when there are specials = really cheap protein.
Expired protein = ridiculously cheap protein.
Eggs
Bulk oatmeal/rice
Cheap brand olive oil
etc...
I've found it real easy on the wallet to diet. Even now preparing a bulk, It won't cost me much more at all.

Protein that's past it's expiration date.

how far past expiration do you eat it personally? just curious I see some stuff 3-6$ off, I have no problem eating expired things.

Protein that goes past the expiration is still good when it's kept at the right conditions. Granted, we are talking powder, not perishable food items like a steak or chicken breast. I remember killing a jug of GNC protein that was nearly 6 months past expiration date and it was just kept in my basement. (theres a reason why i dont like consuming gnc protein) but it was still good and gave me the benefits if i bought it off the shelves that day.

Honestly, it can go pretty far. But don't buy stuf 3-6$ off. You can get 5lbs of protein for 5-15$ depending on the brand. Just stick to chocolate/vanilla/cream flavors, the fruity flavors lose their taste.
