How many of you have doctors who know about your AS use? Just wondering how supportive they can be about it.
I do, I have to run blood tests frequently and my doctor keeps buging all the time, but it's a good thing though!!

I wouldn't tell my doc anything unless it was scaring the crap outta me. If your confess to your doc and your works thinks there is something up with your health they can pull your medical files and fire you or whatever they feel fit.
Just tell your doc you want a full blood test done and learn how to read it, there are normal zones on it and stuff, it's not hard to read. If you are having serious kidney problems or something your doc will see that on the test and adjust accordingly, it really wouldn't matter if you were on AS or not cause the treatment would be about the same, he would tell you to stop though, lol.

As for your kidneys if you learn how to "read" your urine it helps alot. Like if it's cloudy, dark, clear, bloody, etc...pretty much tells the condition of your kidneys. It's in no way better then a doctor, but if you know what you're looking for then it can be a pretty good indictation.

Could an employer actually do that? I'm confused now, I thought that the medical files can't be acted on.
Hmmmm, if you told your doc would they have to put it on your files or could yo uask them not too?

Hmm...I know I don't have access to my employee's medical records without an order from a court or a letter of agreement from the employee that’s in question. I would have to be real careful under discrimination laws...Not worth the trouble.
I could have an employee under go a medical exam with a company Doc. However it must be standard procedure. (upon getting the job etc.)
BTW: if I really didn't want you working for me, I'd just lay you off for the lack of work. Simple.
Oh yeah, my Doc know's eveything, but then again he's a good friend of mine. Were straight with each other. Don't think it would matter either way though.

Yeah FH, it's not hard at all to get a court order to look at your medical records though.... Even if they just think your faking an illness and see that you admitted your on gear your basically at thier mercy then. Most Doc's just try to talk you out of using anyways, it's almost not work asking thier opinion, lol.

IB, yeah your right in saying that if they really wanted to be vindictive towards you and **** you over in a big way. They certainly can....
There's just about 10 ways to get around anything. lol (it may cost ya more, but easily done.)
In my case however, for business sake, the less time I spend on something the better. (one bullet is quicker...lol)
Yeah, when my Doc ask me for the first time if I used...I got the 30 minute lecture. My statement back to him was "your welcome to turn a blind eye to this, but I've decided to pursue this anyway.." we agreed that his "positive" input would only prove as a benefit for us both in my case. Everybody is different!
People would have to measure the pros and cons to whether it’s a benefit to them or not...I'm thinking the Doc has a good idea most of the time anyway. You'd be surprised what they write in your files...Ms. FH is a nurse. They chart everything to cover their ass. Most is without the patients’ knowledge. Docs I'm sure are the same way...

Although I don't break the law for drugs, my doctor thinks I use illegal diuretics and all he says to me is use half a dose.
