This was when I was at Westside (I'm behind him in the gray) recently. I hit 780 and got buried with 830 at the same session.

They didn't video them. I didn't think to ask. I was too worried about moving the weight and trying to impress Louie. I did get a, "You're pretty good with bullshit bars" comment out of him :).

Classic. When is the last time you did a max squat with free weight? What was your best number you hit if you can recall?

AJ is a beast.

Chris you are a beast just for spotting the weight. I don't even see the monolift safety straps. That takes confidence on AJ's and your part.

You know, I have trained Westside for probably going on 3 years now and I have not taken a max free squat in that time. We only box squat in training until very recently where we did a squat to chains with the safety squat bar. I went up to 740 lbs with that using just briefs. I probably had a bit more in me, but felt a twinge in an old hip injury so I shut it down. My training partner has done 930 in a meet and is probably good for about 1k right now so my best guess is I would be in the 900 lbs range or maybe just over.

Actually, they don't like a back spotter so you see he just used side spotters for the 965 lbs attempt. Louie is on the far side and Tom on the other (Tom is Louie's intern from Ireland - a great guy). I didn't think about the straps, lol. I figure when I am up there they know how to spot big weights, so I don't worry about it.
