View Full Version : Mixing Proteins and carbs?

I read something in a magazine that said it was not a good idea to mix protein and carbs in the same meal, to seperate them. I forgot the reason why I'll try to find it. Anyone heard anything like this before?
I've heard not to mix fats and carbs, but I've never heard anything about mixing protein and carbs. You should eat protein at every meal, so that would mean you could never eat carbs.

Protein should be consumed with carbohydrates as this has been shown to increase glycogen resynthesis, especially after training (18). Additionally, combining carbohydrates with protein after weight training raises insulin and growth hormone, which may enhance anabolism (19).

It is definitely ok to mix protein and carbs. :)
