How the F did you manage to shed that much BF in 19 days. I lost 10 lbs in 21 days but it didn't look like I'd made that kind of change! How much have you lost?

Now Keto is just a brand of food or what? Can someone give me the heads up what a Keto Diet is? I am clueless.

starting weight was 226lsb. weight on the 19th was 198lbs. calorie deficit? its too much. im eating around 1800cals a day. im trying to bump up the cals but ive been feeling so full during this diet that its hard to eat more. i was advised to add more fats so i'll be bumping the cals to 2200 with flax or cheese or something that is high cal w/no or trace carbs. i think thats the reason why i lost so much, because i have not been eating enough. i bought ketostix today and it shows that i have trace amounts of ketones in me. dont know about the previous days though. keto diet is just a restriction of carbs, less than 20g a day and eating lots of fats w/moderate proteins. its very hard to follow and i dont think that im following it to the letter. the downsides that i have noticed are: depression, lethargy, loss of strength, loss of motivation, extreme thirst, full feeling. everyone is different of course. and if you do a keto right, im sure some of those downsides wouldnt show up. alot of the weight ive lost so far is water weight. so i guess it is too good to be true. this is the first and only time that i'll be doing a keto. its too much for me.

Assuming you lost 10lbs in water and 16lbs in fat, that makes your calorie deficit roughly 2600/day? Sound right?

That's a freak'in lot of weight to lose in 19 days . . . My last diet I lost a similar amount 17 WEEKS !

Sounds like your quality of life is less than desirable.

Hope it's worth it for ya'.

Agreed MRJ. You've certainly made improvements, but with that much weight loss in such a short time one can't help but wonder how much muscle you lost in the process.

well i didnt have much muscle to begin with so......i just want to get rid of the fat! and i wasnt planning on losing it this fast. i had planned to eat 2200k cals a day but i couldnt fit them all in. i still have a ways to go though.

Maybe it's the lighting or something, but for losing 28 lbs. in 19 days you appear to be OK physically. I'm sure most would assume your body would catabolize everything but fat to keep running.

I'd be interested in seeing your weight & b/f figures before/after.

If you got 'em, please post 'em.

im not done with this diet yet. i'll be starting on the 4th week this sunday and i'll be running it for 8 wks. i still have fat left to lose. my bf% was 26, i believe. i saw this electrical device on my gym that tests bf% and i tried it out. it read 26% and i was at 226lbs at the time. i was at 198lbs on the second pic but i have no idea what my bf% is right now. its still high, probably around 15%. i'll look for some calipers this weekend and measure my bf%.

well i dont think how i did this diet is healthy as i restricted calories too much and didnt do a carb up. basically i ate around 1800 calories a day and kept my carbs under 20g a day. im also taking ECA, NYC and green tea. i did abs and back on mon, chest and tris on tues, shoulders and bis on thurs and abs and legs on fri. i just added cardio this week, 20mins of stationary bike on mon and tues. here is a sample diet:

(4:30am w/cardio)5-6:am workout

6am 40g whey

7am 4 whole eggs

9am 40g whey, 2tablespoons flax

1pm 6oz tuna, 2tabespoons flax, 2tablespoons mayo

3pm 2oz cheddar cheese

5pm 1 whole egg, 2oz lean beef, 3oz tuna

7:30pm 1 whole egg, 2oz lean beef, 3oz tuna

9pm 40g whey, 2tablespoons flax

Please remember that there was a lot of water loss involved. Your body can store something like 10lbs of water--surely we've all had times when we've gotten sick and lost appetite, and lost 10lbs over 5 days or so, but it returned rather quickly?

Water loss can be caused by lowering calories and lowering carbs, and DepressiveJuice did both to a very significant degree.

(Not downplaying your results DJ, which are AWESOME, just reminding people to not expect a magical pill for fat loss)

I'm guessing that you took the flax oil for fat? Can I pick this up at a nutrition store ?

zao
06-23-2002, 11:42 AM
Also, if i'm not able to find this, what can i subsitute for a high fat count?

Olive Oil.

zao
06-23-2002, 02:54 PM
So...........just take like a tablespoon of olive oil

DepressiveJuice
06-23-2002, 02:56 PM
yes jane ive said that most of the weight i lost was water.

mct oil, burger patties, bacon, peanut oil, fish oil. although i would stick with good fats such as flax, mct, peanut and fish oils.

DepressiveJuice
06-23-2002, 02:59 PM
yea tablespoon of olive oil is you want. dont know how it tastes though. the flax tastes horrible but i add a little bit of water to the shakes so i'll drink it without tasting it too much. if you dont want to do that, there are always the fish oil caps. theres also CLA. i would stick with the liquid not the caps with CLA. mainly cause when you break the caps, the smell coming out is disgusting. liquid CLA doesnt smell that way

I'm on day three of the keto diet, i'm kind of skeptical about my results.............when did you start seeing big results?

DepressiveJuice
06-24-2002, 05:33 PM
give it 8 days or so. i didnt really notice any results till my coworkers told me.

how long were your workouts? Like today I did what you do, abs and back, I probably only did about a 30 mins session.

peanut butter is one of the best foods for t he keto diet, buy tuna, peanut butter, flax oil, and you'll have breakfast lunch and dinner.

Peanut butter and bread for breakfast, flax, lunch tuna & flax, snack sardines, dinner can be anything as long as you dont eat any high GI carbs and take 2 tb spoons flax, before bed sardines so you dont sleep on an empty stomach.

zao
06-24-2002, 09:41 PM
i'd rather eat human flesh than sardines
