the only reason i know of why somone would eat a bannana after their workout is because they dont know much about post workout nutrition.

Wow way to show how little you know about post workout nutrition.

Bannana's are great for post workout. They are high GI and will allow you to replenish glycogen stores quickly also allowing good post workout uptake of protein. Many gyms I've been to add a bananna into their shakes they provide to their members.

Umm, does the potassium content in the banana have anything special about it?

After every session i have taken in bananas, whether it be cardio or weights, after Gordon Strachan recommended it in the 1980s when playing for Leeds United.

Hmmm....i was always under the impression that liquids were optimal for postworkout nutrition. Until you show me the study saying bannanas to be better than malto or dextrose (or both combined) I think i will stick to drinking nlarge.

You dont need a ******* STUDY!
Studies are complete bullshit. I hate science. Bananas are good post workout, PERIOD. What do you ***holes think the pros ate postworkout in the 50s? 60s? They didnt exactly look small to me!
You people are so hung up on your studies, you wont believe anything, even known time honored facts, unless its proven is some sort of clinical test held by a nutritional supplement company.

Bananas contain sugar, they also contain lots of vitamins and minerals that powders dont. And who says that liquid absorbs so fast? Dont you chew your damned food before you swallow, you filthy dogs?
Looks like the Hall takes 6-page ad reports seriously. Thy are a ******* comic book. You believe that liquids are best because you believe what a company who wants you to BUY THEIR PRODUCT says. All those magazines are owned by companies who make products. You cant trust that ****. What do animals eat? Food. Ever see a ******* gorilla drink a protein shake?
I'm getting so heated over this crap. End of story, there is nothing more to post on the subject.

Close the thread. CLOSE IT.

If you chew or mash the banana and then drink some water it becomes liquid inside of you. :)

Im sorry i offended you by stating that malto and dextrose are far supperior to bannana's, please forgive me. So if i start eating banna's like the pro's do will i get big muscles? Will the bannan's also make me ripped like the old pros? I also wasn't aware of the bannana's vitamins and minerals, if i eat bannanas does this mean i dont have to buy vitamins, because vitamins cost alot of money and i think i could save money by eating banannas like you say.

I am also sorry for not believing time honored myths like how good and nutrient-full bannana's are. I do feel like an idiot though for believeing that stupid myth that liquids like malto and dextrose are faster than banannas.

I have never seen a gorilla drink a protien shake. The last time i saw a gorilla was when i went to the little childrens petting zoo, and he wasn't drinking a shake. So if i eat grass all day will i get big and strong like a bull? Or should i eat bannana's, or a combination of bannana's and grass? From now on im going to ignore science and eat grass and bannana's. I think me and you should get togeather so you can show me how its done, we can do inclines then eat bannana's all day and me and you will have the biggest upper chests in town!!!

:D :D :D :D This thread is absolutely hilarious. I about fell off my chair laughing when I read Budiak's response. We should have a new forum, say a comedy/flame forum. At least that way we could get a decent ab workout. LOL:clap:

I am just in awe of budiaks supperior intelect. This dude single handedly just proved bannana's better than malto/dextrose. He also proved that liquids aren't absorbed faster than solids as long as you chew the solids. Not to mention he showed everyone how science is just a way to sell supplements. Truley amazing, all by one man.

Thats a good idea. I saw this pretty ripped poodle the other day. I think im going to go get some kibbles and bits. I might stack it with some alpo, that stuff is probably stronger than DNP.

BRo dont, i just saw a "scientific" study that claimed that alpo is good for you, obviously since science is one big lie created for the profit of supplement companies alpo will turn you into a skinny biatch.

Well just to play devil's advocate here, in a side by side comparison of whey digestion vs banana digestion i can assure you (without studies) that the whey would digest quicker, purely because of the fibre content of the banana.

That is all.

Yes Yes Yes. Fibre always needs to be taken into consideration. 75g of carbs are optimal for post workout. How many are there in a Banana ?!

I put a banana in the blender with my shake. It tastes great and I am always a fan of real food.

ElPietro

Well a large banana has 30g of carbs with 3g of fibre. I don't think anyone was saying it is the ONLY thing you take post workout. But if you are looking for something to add to your shake, or just to quell hunger it is good to throw it in. I don't think 3g of fibre will slow everything down significantly anyway...

a bannana and peanut butter posworkout is worse than just having a bannana. peanut butter will further slow down absorbtion because of the fat.
