was just tryin to think of an alternative to a 40p 40c 20f diet, i was lookin thru the board n read that a few people had sucess with having more than 20% fat in their diet, so i was wondering if a 50p 25f 25c split would be apropriate, or is 50% to much protein? because i read in the board somewhere that excess protein would store away as fat? if thats correct, would that come into play with a diet such as this?

There are way too many factors involved to say that one diet is superior to the other.

Try one for 2-4 weeks, then try the other. See what you like better.

I am going 40p-30f-30c right now and I am perfectly content.

They key should be getting enough protein, EFA's, and complex carbs along with a calorie deficiency.

Whichever one works better for you. Everyone is different.

I've been experimenting the last 4 weeks with a ratio of 55% calories from fat, 30% protein & 15% carbs. while INCREASING total calories incrementally on a weekly/biweekly basis and have gained additional lean-body-mass.

Quite contrary to what most folks think would occur.

I've been getting good results with 25p/50c/25f, so I think it's more about calories than ratios.

hrrm, i think i might have a 50p/25f/25c ratio on day 1 and a 40p/40c/20f ratio on day 2, and just repeat it.. both being around 1900-2000 calories.. i know calories plays a bigger part than ratios, but i might lose to much muscle only consuming 25% carbs, so by rotating it from 25% to 40% to maintain as much muscle as possible.. does anybody see anything wrong with doing something like this?

Yes. I think you are overcomplicating things. Just pick a fuggin' split and make sure you eat at least 1g/lb of protein a day, and stick with it. If it works well, keep going, otherwise, switch after you've given it some time.

There is some truth to this statement . . . Whatever you decide to do "stick with it" for the duration, unless it causes health problems.

If it doesn't work as desired, note such and make changes the next time and "stick with it". Eventually, you'll learn what works for you.

As a point of note.

During my last cutting phase I used a ratio of 40p/20f/40c.

Starting at a daily consumption of 3900 I slowly decreased to 2200 over a 16 week period. I lost a total of 25 lbs. of which 6 was muscle based upon b/f measurments prior to and after the trial. I did incorporate cardio, but no more than I did prior to the cutting period.

Hope this helps.
