I am 5'8" 160lbs, Medium Build.
Not sure my BF% - getting it tested tomorrow at the gym (don't think it's too high, my abs are somewhat visible). I want to pack on at least 20 pounds of lean body mass. And advice is apprediated. Thanks.

Be patient . . . 20 lbs. lean will take quite a bit of time.

i dunno mrj, he's not that big to start with no offense, I'd say in 4 months if you bulk seriously.

He stated, lean weight. (no fat)

No offense to your viewpoint, but this goal will present quite a challenge in my opinion.

I'm totally serious. I eat a pretty well balanced diet now, I think I just need to increase my overall calories and eat bigger quantities more often. Should I be eating only high GI carbs now? Or a combination of low and high GI?

Breakfast for example, I usually have a cup of Oatmeal w/ brown sugar and a yogurt and 24g scoop protein. I've been trying to drink more (whole) milk too.

Well I'm willing to gain a little fat too, I can (hopefully) burn it off after I pack on some lbs. BTW i plan on using an ECA stack through the first few months of this bulk (I'm hoping that it'll help me to keep fat gain at a minimum, while adding lean mass).

I didn't say 4 mos, nejar462 did. Actually I was thinking more like 6.

I'm not really concerned with how long it takes, I was just hoping to get general advice from people who have had good, clean successful bulks.

hmm.
i started lifting/bulking around february of this year and weighted in at 140 pounds. when i weighed myself in the beginning of june i weight 160 pounds.

so, twenty pounds in four months. and i doubt it's lean, but you can't see any fat and i do have noticeably larger muscles.

SP44,

You didn't say how old you are, and I think that's relevant. I think the younger you are, the easier bulk--that's been my own experience. When I was 19 (I'm 34 now), I was 5'11", 138 lbs. I joined a gym, saw a nutritionist and shot up to about 170 in about 18 months or so, and 160-165 became my "natural" weight (i.e., when I stopped lifting for a few years, I didn't lose all the weight). At 24, I started lifting again, and got up to about 180(don't remember how long it took). Again, when I stopped, I didn't lose it all--my natural weight was around 175-180.

About eight years ago, I injured my lower back (2 herniated disks) and stopped lifting until January of this year. I had ballooned to about 185 @ about 24% bodyfat. When I started, my goal was to bulk up, while eating more carefully, to hopefully reduce my bf%. Today, I'm @ around 16% and weigh between 188-192.

Damn, didn't mean to write my life story.

Well im about to start my first real 'bulk' in about 2 weeks and from all the info i've gathered a reasonable goal was something around 10-15lbs. I'm sure people have had recieved results much more impressive than that. Good luck with your bulk though, i like you am trying to get the most info as possible to really make it worthwhile.
