Why not buy a small drink shaker and pack it in your gym bag?? That way - your get your protein drink only 5 min after working out.

You could do what I do and stop at McDonald's or BK and get two of the biggest burgers they sell along with a milk shake.

Only ninjas can do that. Normal humans get fat, which is neither sweet nor insane.

Not even a little insane?

Bring an energy bar or something with some carbs and protein to eat right afterwards on the drive home. Then have your shake when you get home.

1 hour away?! What the hell? I'd kill myself if I lived that far from my gym. I guess I'm just spoiled having my gym 10 mins away from me.

Anyway its probably ok. But, just get a shaker cup... they're handy things to have.

YOu've got a small pocket of time after you finish your workout when your body can make the most of what it's given, miss this time and you miss the oppertunity to load your muscles after a hard workout. 1 hour is too long, you wanna be getting all your protein and carbs in within 20 mins to really benefit.

Take a shaker to the gym with you and get your shake in there.

Failing that just stop at Mc Donalds and ask for the ninja special..... but be sure to give the secret wink.:D

Kayak Boy, just where you got the number "20 minutes" from? Are you just making this number up? I've never heard a definite number for when to get the shake down, all I know, is the sooner the better.

We had a sport scientist from the Austalian Institute of Sport come to our club and he explained the processes to us.

He said that you wanna have protein and carbs in you within 20 mins of finishing a session, and to start taking these during your cool down would be of an even greater advantage.

Also, regarding carbs, if you miss taking carbs in within one hour of finishing you won't be able to get your glycogen levels up for 48 hours.
