I don't know if this belongs here or in the training section...

When I begin working out for a few weeks I notice a surge in my libido, and a ton of energy and a general happy mood, after about 2 months or so I notice that my libido suddenly crashes, and I become really edgy and easily annoyed and I have much less energy.
I don't change my diet when I workout, could it be that I burn so many calories when I workout that it just catches up to me after 2-3 months?

Any idea what causes this? And how to overcome it?

Usually what happens is by the 3rd month of this low energy, low libido, annoying attitude, I just stop working out for 6-7 months, then start working out again.

What can I do to help me get through this hump?

Is there a supplement I can take to boost my libido at the very least?
Yohimbe? I'd love the name of a specific product rather than an ingredient please!

hmm.... could POSSIBLY be overtraining.

Belial, yeah kinda sounds like it I guess...
But I don't think thats the case
I typically workout 3-5 times a week and do 9-12 sets each day, with abs every other session.
Calories are typically in the 1700-2k range
protein in the 160-180 range
same with carbs
and fats are typically in the 30-50 range

You might want to try a supplement by Syntrax called FUZU. I've used it to get my libido and natural testosterone levels back to normal after an 8 week cycle of Ergopharm's 1-AD. How old are you?

I'm 26.
This same thing has happened to me every time I start working out for the past 6 years

I feel your pain. I've hit the same point right now over the last fortnight. But I just keep going. I have not been training as intensely though, but i'm still training.

geoff...how much do you weigh?

my initial thought is that you are definitely not eating enough.

well you didn't mention if you were cutting or not...but the 1700-2000 cals would be your range for doing that. altho, i think you would be better off, considering your training, aiming for closer to 2300-ish cals, even if you are cutting. i would say undereating would definitely have some influence on you not feeling so hot after a while.

My weight hasn't gone up or down significantly on this diet over the past 3 months. 175 is prob my avg with it going up to 178 and down to 173 now and then. (I measure before every workout)
But my BF has dropped 2-3% in this time.

I suppose I'm cutting? I eat like this and workout like this all the time.

Take a week off. I have to often force myself to stay out of the gym.

you are overtraining/under eating causing a decrease in testostrone..........

you may not be losing because yourbody is in starvation mode. holdingonto every bit of fat, in case you never eat again.

ive noticed ive been getting edgy more easily aswell, my friends are saying the gyms going to my head, maybe. but i think its cause of the strain on my body, after the gym i feel good, but during the week i feel edgy.
