wrong thread, some mod, might wanna move to sup, section.
And to answer your question, if you are having trouble sleeping not getting enough sleep, sleeping pills will indeed help since in theory you should be able to sleep more, therefore recovering more efficentely. But if you are already sleeping enough hours, sleep alright, you shouldnt benefit from sleeping pills. MIght just become addicted to it for no reason.

Yes but not in the way you want them to. There are various stages of sleep and these stages move in cycles throughout the night. Sleeping pill, like alchohol, afect GABAergic pathways in the brain and make you feel sleepy. Although you will sleep for a long time without waking up, sleeping pills will prevent you from enetering stage 4 sleep which is the most important aspect of sleep from a training point of view. The result - you still wake up feeliing unrested and drained especially due to the increase in duration of REM sleep.

You don't sleep well when you drink because your body is busy metabolising the alcohol. I do beliee.

i see. thanks stan.

as to your situation, if you can't sleep without the pills, it might be time to wean yourself off of them.

How long have you been taking them?
I was popping Simply Sleep for a couple of weeks, and it just didn't do anything for me so I stopped taking them all together.
