This is something I must clear up.

I was always eating protein AND carbs immediately after my workouts but I read somewhere a month or two ago that's not the case and you have to leave the protein for like an hour later.

1. That would mess up my meal schedule.

2. What's the purpose of that?

3. IS THAT TRUE?

So, in essence, what I'm asking is...what is the proper post-workout procedure?

It is important to get both really but the point is to replenish your glycogen stores as they have just been nearly depleted from you lifting weights so therefor you should get a good amount of carbs and a good amount of protein about a 3:1 4:1 carb to protein although that's just what I think

a quick responding carb like dextrose or maltodextrin and a quick absorbing protein like whey is perfect.

I like to do a ratio of 2:1 - carb : protein.

2 grams of carbs per every one gram of protein.

I take my dextrose in almost a pure form. I think that get's a good amount of the glycogen replenished, but your body uses the other carbs to repair the muscle, and the protein to build it. they work hand in had. Your biggest carb meal should be after you lift. As far as the protein.....take in directly after you get some quick absorbing carbs in you, then go ahead and eat like a king!
