Ok, what the hell, I'll keep my crap written down.

I'll start off with a little biography of myself. My name is Wade. I'm 6'0, 155 - 160 lbs depending on how much water I'm retaining (this creatine is messing with my head!). I haven't had my bf% checked, but I'll get around to that sooner or later. As far as me, non-workout-style, I'm basically a hobbyist musician, I play bass, and am in a punk band and a rock/jam band.

As for my health history, I've not led a healthy life thus far. About a year and a half ago, I was up to 220 pounds. I was a hefty boy, and not the good hefty. I was obviously displeased with my looks, and became anorexic. I got down to 135 pounds, and I still looked unhealthy (for obvious reasons). This made my figure very disproportianate. I retained a small gut, probably about 3-5 pounds of fat, and a little around the glutes, but became a stick everywhere else. So there I was, stuck with this odd-looking hourglass figure. This is when I decided to get into shape.

At the beginning of this summer (May '02), I joined a gym. I wanted to lose my gut and beef up a little bit. I started going to the gym every day, doing 40 mins of intense cardio, 30 mins of full body weight training, and 20 mins of ab work. To top it off, I was still eating like a bird (old habits are hard to break).

After 2 months of no results, I realized I was definitely doing something wrong. Luckily, I stumbled across this website, and hopefully, I'm now on the right track. Let's get started.

My Daily Diet

Meal 1:

3 whole eggs, 2 servings of eggwhites, picante sauce, a glass of orange juice, and an essential fatty acid supplement

Meal 2:

Protein Shake (3 scoops of whey, 60 g protein total) blended with half a banana and skim milk and 2 cans of tuna with mustard, 4 slices of whole wheat toast

Meal 3:

1.5 servings of chicken breast with picante sauce

Meal 4 (Post Workout):

Protein Shake (2 scoops of whey, 40 g protein total) blended with half a banana and skim milk. Also creatine drink (10 g creatine total) mixed with grape juice

Meal 5:

2 slices of whole wheat bread with 2 servings of all-natural peanut butter and 2 servings of grape jelly

Meal 6:

1.5 servings of chicken breast with picante sauce (picante owns)

Caloric Value: 3230 calories/day
Fat: 73 g
Carbs: 297 g
Protein: 320 g

This comes out to a 11/43/46 split between my macronutrients. I'm trying to keep my protein intake high, and I simply do not enjoy most fattening foods, so hopefully my supps will keep me covered on that end.

Supplements

Taking Bioplex whey protein formula, Creatine Express, and Essential Fatty Acid supps.

This arm day felt a lot more intense than my previous. I'm still sore from leg day which sucks, but hopefully that means its working. I've been using an EZ Curl bar for my BB curls, but I wanted to try for 70 today using a straight bar. It proved to be too much, I could only get a little over 2 reps with it, so I went to failure on my second set with the 65. I'm pleased to see progress in some areas of my arms, especially the BP. By the way, doing military press immediately followed by DB press is hell on the shoulders.

Off day (woohoo!)

I leave for a 5 day cruise to Cancun and Cozumel tomorrow. I'm a little concerned that I won't be able to stick to my diet 100% (I know everyone is supposed to enjoy a little off time, but I'm not even finished with week 2 of my program), but there is a gym onboard, so I'll at least be able to stay with my training. That's life, I suppose. Hopefully when I get back I'll have some pleasant results, a tan, and the virginity of a young latin woman. Peace.

I'm kind of pissed off after this workout. I've just recently started doing hanging leg raises, and I really enjoy them. Well today, there were 2 jackass Abercrombie boys doing hundreds of sets of pullups at my leg raise station thinking they were hot ****, so I didn't get a chance to do my leg raises since I was in a hurry. Guys like that make me laugh and make my skin boil at the same time. They go there every day and overtrain which I find hilarious, but they screw with my routine which is tuttut

Anyway, I have less than a month until I begin my cutting phase, and I'm really psyched about it. I'm looking forward to late nights with females bouncing quarters off my abs. I'm still debating on which route I should take, though. CKD seems pretty cool to me, and I've heard good things about it, but I'm still open to suggestions. If anyone is actually reading this and has had success with CKD or thinks it's satan, please feel free to add your input.

What kind of grip are are you using? I had the same problem and switched to a mixed grip (1 hand over, 1 hand under) and everything's gotten better again. Hope that helps. Good luck on the diet.

Not really, but... I wouldn't wanna do one.

Besides the mixed grip ectx mentioned, why not pick up some chalk?

TKD would be the best bet...regulate your calories, take 25-30g of carbs pre and post workout, eat keto style the rest of the time.

Meh, been really busy lately and have been neglecting the journal. Catchup time.

Thanks for the grip tip ectx, I was using an overhand grip, but after switching to the mixed grip, I've been able to support more weight. I've also been squeezing the sh*t out of a tennis ball lately to work on my grip strength whenever I have the chance.

I've decided to ditch the whole ketosis diet thing. I've decided to just count my cals and eat under maintenance, and see how things fall in. I've been neglecting ratios for the most part, but I've been making sure to keep my protein levels up there. I also picked up some glutamine, and it has really helped out with recovery since I've started cutting.

Done with week 1 of my cut. I've dropped my daily cal intake to 2400. I was at 178 at the beginning of the week, got down to 170 on Friday, and I'm at about 173 after a cheat day yesterday. I think (and I'm hoping) that most of that weight I lost initially was water. Going to keep it at 2400 for this next week and see where I end up. My goal is to shoot for 171. I'll see where I end up on the scale, and then adjust accordingly.

Alright, here's what my cutting diet looks like:

Meal 1:
Whole wheat PBJ Sandwich - 500 cals
2 cups skim milk - 160 cals

Meal 2:
Protein Bar - 190-240 cals (depends on which kind I eat)
Nutrigrain Bar - 140 cals

Meal 3:
2 servings of corn chips w/salsa - 300 cals

Meal 4 (Post Workout):
3 scoops of whey: 300 cals
Gatorade & creatine: 125 cals

Meal 5:
Chicken Breast - 170 cals

Meal 6:
2 cups of skim milk: 160 cals
Chicken Breast: 170 cals

That's what my diet looks like usually. Sometimes I'll drop one of the chicken breasts and have some steak instead, but it's usually pretty much close to this. It comes out to around 2200-2400 cals a day. I don't pay attention to ratios, I just make sure I'm getting enough protein, and taking my EFA's.

Meal 3:
2 servings of corn chips w/salsa - 300 cals

Meal 4 (Post Workout):
3 scoops of whey: 300 cals
Gatorade & creatine: 125 cals

Meal 5:
Chicken Breast - 170 cals

Meal 6:
2 cups of skim milk: 160 cals
Chicken Breast: 170 cals

That's what my diet looks like usually. Sometimes I'll drop one of the chicken breasts and have some steak instead, but it's usually pretty much close to this. It comes out to around 2200-2400 cals a day. I don't pay attention to ratios, I just make sure I'm getting enough protein, and taking my EFA's.

Are you using natural peanut butter and low sugar jam? That should only be like 300-400 calories, also do you think I should be counting calories?

Nope, I'm using the evil stuff. Tastes better, and natty pb is too much of a pain in the ass to handle right after I roll out of bed. If you're cutting, I would definitely count cals, bro.

I'm taking a friend with me to the gym tomorrow. He's pretty out of shape, and wants to build a physique. Hopefully he's serious and will consider joining my gym. I'd love to have a partner for spots and such.

On the other hand, if he spends all day sitting in the whirlpool, I'm going to be beating some ass.

Unrelated to lifting...

I finally got to play music with my friend Matt again. We got busted smoking pot about 6 months ago, and we haven't been able to play since. Dear god, it was the most fun I've had in a long time. We played a few of our old songs, and then did a 50 minute long freestyle metal/reggae/ska/punk/blues/jazz jam. I'm ecstatic.

Meh, still don't feel like busting out the notebook and copying numbers, so I'm just going to talk.

My mom drove my jeepster to the store this weekend for groceries. She was in it for a total of maybe 15 minutes, and she absolutely hated it. She informed me that she wants to get me a new car. Effin' cool.

The weekend sucked for me. I was supposed to go to Austin with my astronomy teacher for a star party, but the weather was crap and it was cancelled. I went to a party instead with some of my friends that are visitng from college. I'm convinced that estrogen is pure evil. Girls crying all over the place. Lots of negativity. Not cool. Some of my friends were supposed to play a show this weekend at a club in downtown San Antonio, but it got cancelled. Bummer. We went to a warehouse they used to play at and got thrown out. Bummer again.

Lately, people have been flooding my gym like crazy. Membership has like doubled within the past month. It f*cking sucks. It's become infested with curl jockies. I had trouble finding a place to park today, and this is a big motherf*cking complex of a gym, with a parkinglot to match. Not cool. I'm considering finding another gym. I probably should anyway, this place is more like a golf resort than a real gym. Still, it pisses me off regardless.

I'm also pissed off at my diet. I've been eating 2100 cals/day now, and the weight doesn't really seem to be budging from 170. I'm not sure what the deal is. I think I'm starting to see some more definition, but I'm not sure if my eyes are playing tricks on me. I bought some fat calipers to check out my bf%. Effin' worthless. First reading, 22% bf. Second reading, 9.4% bf. 3rd reading, 13% bf. Gay ass. I think I need to get a water displacement test, but I've heard they're expensive, and I don't know where to go to get one anyway.

There's this girl at school who is really cool, has an incredible body, and talks to me a lot. She gave me some candy for Halloween, and is always hanging on me. I liker her a lot, but I'm fairly sure she has a boyfriend. Lame. Same thing is happening to my drummer. Girls suck. Well, girls suck when they do this sh*t, anyway.

Ok, enough rambling. I might update my lifts sometime. Maybe not. Oh well. My strength is staying pretty much constant. I'm up to 6-7 BW pullups now, which is a vast improvement over my original 0. I've also been doing WG BTN Pulldowns. Awesome for the back. Peace.

If you think your gym is getting packed now, just what until after christmas when all the new year's resolution bastards pile into the gym mass hysteria. It never fails, for about 2-4 weeks, the gym will be absolutely blasted with newbies and people whom you will only see for a couple weeks out of the year.

I dread those days because I have been forced to start working out in the afternoons now during the peak times. Sucks a big one.

Awesome, serious soreness from chest/back day yesterday. I know it really doesn't mean anything, but feeling sore just makes me feel good.

I went for 50s on my DB Press, squeezed out a set of 8 followed by a set of 3, then dropped to 45s. Did 6 BW chins and did pulldown work BTN alternating grips. These shred my lats. Going up in my pressing strength made my dipping workset a little weaker, but such is life I suppose. Clocked in at around 167 this morning, not bad. I would really be looking forward to leg day tomorrow, but I know the gym is going to be swarming with bitches in my way. Dammit.

168 again today, not bad. Hope to be hovering at 167 by Friday.

Leg Day today. For some reason, I felt like going heavier than normal today. I broke my PR for squats and SLDLs today, but that's because I've been scared of going heavier with my freeweight squats, and my grip strength has been getting stronger on my DL's. Squated 185 for 2 sets of 8 which is like 40 lbs over my previous top. DL'ed 185 also for 1 set of 8, 1 set of 7. All in all I was pleased. Did some legpresses too. Stood up and my legs felt like jello. Badass. I want to do some running in the morning, but I don't think my legs are going to agree.

Side note... Mars Music is going out of business so they're having a huge sale. I needed a few effects pedals for my bass and I figured I could score some cheap. I blew f*cking 200 bones, way too much. Dammit. Went to Academy and stocked up on some more workout clothes, seeya 100 more. Money sucks.

Sh*tty day today. My legs were killing me all day, and I usually enjoy a good case of DOMS, but I was having serious difficulty walking, and my knee felt tweaked. Went to a friend's house after school and some guys showed up. They were all going to a party and invited me to go along, but my mom is a nutcase and doesn't want to be home by herself since my dad is hunting.

And I won't be doing cardio for a while at least. I got drunk for my friend's band's first show last night and started a mosh pit. I eff'd my ankle up hardcore and I'm in crutches and a splint for at least 3 weeks. It sucks, but I had a good time regardless.

Titties = :thumbup:

If my ankle keeps healing at this rate, I'll be back in full swing by the end of the week. Doctors always overestimate. Stupid bastards. I still took the day off even though it was chest/back day. My back feels pretty sore from moshing I guess. I think I would've had a unproductive workout anyway.

Bleh, my diet was **** yesterday. I pretty much stuck to the usual, except I had a couple bags of Doritos, a couple cookies, and an extra serving of chicken parmesian. It was good, no doubt, but I weighed in at 168 this morning. I realize I didn't gain a solid 2 lbs overnight, but it made me feel crappy nevertheless. For the rest of this week, I'm gonna try to eat at 2000 cals/day since I'm taking the week off.

Tool concert is tonight, I'm totally psyched and pissed at the same time. Reason being, I love Tool with a passion, but I had a pit ticket and obviously I can't do any moshing on this ankle. Gonna see if any of my friends with a seat will trade me. I'm sure someone will be more than happy to oblige. Filthy bastards.

Frozenmoses
11-13-2002, 11:45 AM
Ok, Tool kicked a lot of ass last night. I traded my pit ticket for a seat to a friend, and I'm really glad I did. I was only able to stand up for about 10 minutes at a time on this ankle, so I would've been in a world of hurt in the pit.

My diet was so-so yesterday. I ate below maintenance, but it didn't feel very good. For breakfast I had my normal PBJ sandwich, but I skipped out on lunch because I forgot my protein bar. I had some chicken and pasta when I got home, and then some beef fajitas after the concert. I had a cookie when I got home tuttut

Weighed in at 166 this morning, not too bad. Also, I'm skipping school today because I totally forgot about a Statistics project I have due. Actually, I'm pretty proud of myself, too. I've never skipped school in my life, and this being my first time, I'm doing it so that my grade won't flop, instead of getting wasted or something. Go me!

Oh yeah, ankle is feeling much better now. I can walk around pretty normally without my brace on now. I'm still reluctant to put much pressure at all on it, so I'm going to keep my brace on for today and see how it feels without it for a while tomorrow morning.

Weight this morning = 165. Kickass, I'm still losing. Ankle is feeling better today. I'm walking around without the brace, but I'm going to put it on for school.

Cutting is really starting to get to me. Every time I look at myself in the mirror, I can't really tell a difference. It's driving me crazy. I just have to keep believing that all of this work isn't in vain. I'm going to give myself until the middle of next month (around my birthday) to keep cutting and checking my progress. If I can visibly see results and I WANT to continue, I'm going to keep cutting. If I can see the results and I don't want to continue, I'm bulking. If I see no results, I'm bulking. At this point, my fat doesn't really concern me anymore; results do. And when I bulk, that's the only time I really see significant results. Anyway, I miss my lifts getting bigger.

powerhalf
11-14-2002, 06:18 PM
ahh, i can understand about not seeing results. But i know that i've felt results... the bottom of my gut seems to be a bit smaller when i pinch at it, i don't get slightly winded like i used to while walking up a long flight of stairs, etc. I know you and i are working on more than a 100 lb difference.. while looks are my ultimate goal, losing weight right now is what i'm working on now. I don't weigh myself every day because i don't want to get disheartened by water flux (yeah! flux!) and tempermental scales.
since you're cutting, i'm assuming that the results that you talked about wanting to see in your past post are muscle definition, probably abs, right? I'm obviously no expert, but maybe it would work well if you bulked now to 200 or something? again, i could be wrong, but if you're willing to go on a dedicated cut once you reach your bulking weight goal, i think the definition would come more easily (biggest muscles).

just my 2 cents :D

You know, I've never really thought about it that way, Power. Actually when I got home today I just glanced in the mirror, and my gut did seem a bit smaller. That's what I want to go away. I actually look pretty lean everywhere EXCEPT my gut. I've had this little chub ever since I was 7. I suppose if I did bulk up to around 200, I will have gained some significant LBM, and cutting from there will show much more progress, and perhaps make the fat burning easier. I appreciate the response, bro. I'm still going to stick to my cut until next month, and from there, I'm headed right for the big 2 double 0.

On a side note, my astronomy teacher invited me to go watch the meteor shower with him this weekend. I'm really excited, and I told my mom about it today. She said "Oh, well I guess you could use your birthday present this weekend then." I went out into the garage and she had bought me a 10" dobsonian reflecting telescope. I squeezed out a few more reps on my DB press this week than I did 2 weeks ago, which got me pretty pumped. I know it man, I've just been lazy about getting the notebook out of my bag. Plus, it seems like every time I post my lifts, I leave my notebook at the computer and I feel lost when I get to the gym.

But at your request, I'll start posting 'em again.

I've decided to finish out this cut 'til next month, and then doing a slow bulk to 200. I've come to terms with the fact that I probably won't have visible abs by the time I'm finished with this cut, but such is life. I think that doing a 6 week bulk/2 week cut cycle up to 200, followed by an extended cut will produce the physique I'm wanting for now.

Ain't life a bitch?

I take it the ankles all better. Great to see you're back at that luxury spa of a place you call a gym. (j/k) How was the meteor shower over from teh hill country? Couldn't see too much from my side of town. Medical center is still too much in the city...too much light contamination. On another note...I hate taking my notebook to the gym, so I put my workout on business cards and take a pen with me and the card. I have the previous week and I right in this week's as I do it. Weighed in at 163 this morning. I have no idea where the weight is going, but it's leaving apparently. My legs felt like jelly when I got off the leg press, righteous. I seriously hate leg curls. I can't go heavy on them because they make me feel like I'm going to piss my pants.

I'm pretty pissed off at myself, too. I had it set in my head to ask this girl out, and I'm 99.9% sure she would've said yes. I gave her a hug, told her I had something to ask her, then just said nevermind, I'll ask you later. I pussed out. Dammit.

Tomorrow, baby. Tomorrow.

God dammit. God f*cking dammit. I pussed out again. I was so close to asking Felicia out today, and even after I heard from NUMEROUS of her friends that she's been wanting to go out with me for a long time, I still hesitated. I think I am officially gay. What the hell is wrong with me? She's gorgeous and she's so incredibly cool, but every time I try to work up the courage I collapse.

don't worry about it buddy, i've come very close too but not had the guts to ask. I don't even understand myself. when i was younger i'd love to step onto a mat alone with a 275lb guy who wanted to injure me, but i'd be completely helpless when it came to 'romance'. :( no guts, no glory!

lol, that's a good point, Powerhalf. I'll get up in some 6'4, 330 lbs defensive lineman's face, but a 5'4 105 lbs girl can make me feel like the smallest guy in the world. Oh well, I've promised myself to ask her out today.

Weighed 163 this morning. I have a feeling that I'm going to be stagnant at this weight eating 2100 cals. Lucky for me, my ankle is feeling pretty top notch, so I'm just going to throw in 2 days of cardio, and see where that lands me next week.

Congrats...I see you have grown balls young padawan. Have fun on the date. A good place to go to, if you're thinking along the lines of park, etc.,etc. is the McNay. That's if she's into art. You can eat outside on the grounds, walk the place and/or go over to Twin Sisters afterwards. They dig that sort o stuff. You could also show off and take her to the observatory 1.5 hours up the road from you at Canyon of the Eagles....sweet scope and no lights. hmmm....you get the idea. Weighed in at 162 this morning. Alright baby. I've had to drop my cals a bit more to break that stagnation at 163. No big deal though. Just cutting out a cup of milk. Ahh well.

When I was getting ready to hop in the shower, I noticed myself in the mirror. Much to my pleasure, I saw that my stomach ALMOST looks flat! I tested my bf% with my assclown callipers and it came out to 17.4%. I'm going to tend to think this is pretty close to right, because I tested myself a little over a week ago and it was 17.7%. Hmm. I hit the gym early today. I figured it was going to be crowded from all of the people trying to burn of Thanksgiving. For the time of day, it was fairly crowded, but not nearly as bad as it usually is when I go at night. Also, my date with Felicia is today, and my friend's parents are out of town so I'm gonna be partying tonight. Still no way I'd skip out on arm day though.

All in all, pretty decent workout. Arms felt pretty annihilated. My definition has improved greatly, I catch myself staring in the mirror sometimes. I hate to go bragging, but this reminds me of something i did a few years ago when i was a junior in HS. during the offseason for football, on my next to last 1RM test day (8 weeks apart, generally) i was the last person doing the squat test because everyone else had dropped off already- as the weight climbed higher, less people were still in. a bunch of freshmen were still there waiting for rides, and watched me do the best squat of my life, at 500 lbs. the looks on the poor kid's faces were a prize, i wish i could have seen the bar bend :)

i kind of feel like Al Bundy, babbling about the glory days :P

I'm stopping my cut because I'm at 160 now, and my strength has remained relatively in tact from my bulk, but I'm starting to look more stick-like again. I'm not too worried about not having the 6 pack since its still winter. I figure a slow 6 week bulk 2 week cut cycle should do me good up until summertime. Also, I'm tired of my lifts not going up like they were, and I wanna squat a minivan, dammit.

I still didn't get the GNC job yet. I'm waiting until after the holidays to apply. I went in and talked to a guy there and he said he wasn't sure if they were hiring, and that I would have better chances at the start of next year for some reason. That's cool though, I'd like to have a nice break over the holidays anyway.

For BB Rows, I alternate my grip. First set is generally overhand, then I do my second underhand. It really feels like it hits my back harder with an underhand grip, though, so I'm gonna start using it exclusively for a while. Thanks for the post, Mike.

I only had 1 exam today for school: statistics. Yuck. Actually, it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be, but I still don't like the class very much. I mean, the teacher is fantastic, but the material just doesn't sit well with me. Ahh well. I think I did alright on it.

I saw Felicia in the hall today. We had our usual boyfriendy/girlfriendy chatter, and when she was leaving, she said the deadly trio. "I... love... you" Wow. It floored me. I stared into her eyes, and realized that I really felt the same way about her. So obviously I told her back. Wow again. I think I actually am in love with her. I mean, I give my best friend **** all the time about telling his girlfriend he loves her, but for that instant I could really understand how he felt and it felt so natural. I sound like a f*cking pansy. But I'm in love with Felicia. Cool.

You f*cking Pansy! Nah, it's great that you have someone that you feel that way about and that feels that way back. That's very cool young'n. Sounds like your workouts are going awesome! PR's every session is amazin man. The hard work is really paying off.

Nothing pansy about telling the women you love just that. Its tougher to be honest with her and yourself than to just fake it and move on. You are a better person for admitting it. Very cool indeed.

Is school about done for the sememster? Good luck on the rest of your exams.

PR's, PR's, and more PR's. I improved in almost every lift again. I decided to scrap my second set of Chin Grip PD's for Widegrips, because I feel WG's much more in my lats. I'm also glad that I squeezed out 2 complete sets of 90% dips. I'm gonna move up to 95% next, and once I rip out 2 of those, I'm moving to bodyweight. Weee

This is great to hear FM! Keep up the hard work man, really really impressive. Keep setting PBs (personal bests) haha I have always called them, and eventually youll be friggin' strong and hell man. Keep up the hard work.

lol, thanks ec. And yes, the stats exam was from the Rice grad. She churns out some pretty intense testing material, but luckily I'm not in her calculus class, because I've heard it was downright murderous.

I really appreciate it, HY! Man, being at a plateau for so long and finally leaping over it has to be one of the best feelings. Very good call on the love advice, I never really thought of it like that. And yes, school is just about wrapped up for this semester. I'm exempt from the rest of my exams except for one more tomorrow morning (photograpy, wtf?!).

Thanks a ton, Mike! I've been considering switching to Westside after I bulk up to 200 lbs. After 200, I think I wanna train for strength more than mass, so I hope Westside totally owns for you, bro.

Been neglecting the journal lately, tons of stuff going on. Update time.

Calf Extensions @ 270 lbs: 15, 15
Decline Crunches w/60 lbs: 10, 8
Leg Press @ 270 lbs: 8, 3

Skipped BB squats today, my neck felt funky and some curl jockey was taking up the power rack anyway.

I was going to do my dips at 95% bw today, but for some reason the machine wouldn't allow that to happen so I jumped up to BW. I was really glad to squeeze out 7 reps on my first set. Dipping my bw has been a goal of mine for a while, and I'm glad I finally got there.

Kinda weird. I haven't been eating very clean this week. I've been staying around my daily caloric limit of 2700, but obviously it being the holidays I've gone over a few times, as well as stayed under on the days I've been drinking. I weighed in at 163 today. Very weird. Not sure what the deal is, because I'm at my strongest right now, but I weigh what I did at the end of my cut. Not that I'm bitching or anything, just seems odd to me. I figured I was supposed to be 166 yesterday, but I guess not! Hopefully that means I'm lowering my bf% while gaining strength, because that would be cool, and by cool I mean totally sweet.

Weighed 164 this morning. Not bad. I've been eating really clean this week. For a while I stopped eating tuna because I was having it every day for a few months straight, but I started to miss my daily fish injection. Stocked up on tuna again, and boy is that crap good. I'm adding a slight change to my workout plans as well. I've decided to scrap the 6 week bulk/2 week cut cycle. I'm going to bulk up until the end of February, and then cut down until May. I wanna be secksy in my bathing suit for summer, and I figure 3 months should be good time to get fairly cut up as long as I'm careful with this bulk.

My dad is supposed to take me to look at a new car today. We found an ace '02 Firebird that's got me popping all sorts of crazy boners, so hopefully there won't be anything wrong with it and I'll be driving merrily along in a Pontiac. My dad's truck got broken into last night, and they jacked his rifle, rangefinder, binoculars, and MY digital camcorder. Dammit. Oh well, I just hope dad's still gonna take me car shopping. I want a new car. PLEASE.

I think I'm gonna add around 10 or 15 lbs between now and February. I certainly won't be big, but I'll at least be bigger. I figure I'll end up weighing somewhere around 175 or 180 at the end of February, and cut back down to 165ish by May.

Thanks, Miss Rezza! I love it so much. I'll post some pics of what I was driving before, and maybe then you'll understand why I love this thing so much. I was cruising around in a '72 Jeepster Commando, and while it looks cool as hell, it's a real pain. It gets like 9 mpg, no heat/ac, no power brakes, and the top doesn't fit on all the way so I get rained on. For me, my new car is like going from spam to steak. I've been purposely forgetting things when I go out so I have an excuse to drive, lol. Thanks for the post!

Meh. Strength seemed pretty stagnant compared to last weeks workout. Diet has been kind of crappy though lately, and I didn't really have my head into my training. I'm upping my cal intake to ~3100 on training days and keeping it at 2700 on off days. It's all good anyways, since my weight has been staying pretty much constant at 2700, so I think I can afford the boost.

Jesus Rollerblading Christ. The gym was filled to the brim. I had to drive around the parking lot for 5 minutes to find a spot. Walked into the locker room, fatass galore. For a second I thought I was in the women's locker room from all of the breasts.

Very incomplete workout for me, today. I wanted to try some static BB holds to work on my grip strength, but there were people EVERYWHERE. It was like mardi gras with freeweights. No room to work, all of the benches being used, would-be curl jockies in the power rack. Pathetic. I was hoping one of the fatties would have a stroke or something and alleviate the overpopulation, but I guess I'll just have to wait until they get burnt out after 4 or so weeks of no progression. Dumbasses.

WillKuenzel

LMAO, I know the feeling of overcrowded. Monday was terrible. The power rack was my only saving grace. My little sanctuary was undefiled by curl jockeys on that day. Anymore I just drive straight to back of the lot and park at the far end. I find it funny how all these people looking to get into thegym to lift will fight like crazy to get the close parking spaces. If you have a small lot and can't find a space then I can understand, but our gym has the biggest parking lot and plenty of free spaces at the back but people will fight tooth and nail not to. Just cracks me up. But if I had your car I wouldn't mind riding around. It'll clear up soon.

Frozenmoses
01-08-2003, 07:50 PM
Good call, HY. Glad at least your power rack remained unbastardized. I guess what sucks so bad is I have a gym with one of those huge parking lots, and even the far corners were taken up. Oh well, I'm sure they'll burn out soon enough.

On a side note, I submitted my scholarship application for A&M Corpus today. I'm pretty nervous. I won't know if I got it until March, so that's still a ways off. I had to write 2 short essays in addition to my SAT/ACT score crap. I'm not sure if my essays have what it takes, though. Stupid me, I procrastinated on them really badly, so I don't know if my usual last-possible-moment effort is going to suffice. We shall see, I guess. At least I know I'm in, but $12k would be a nice chunk out of tuition.

Finishing out this week, then I'm making some changes. First, I'm reworking my split. I'm thinking:

Monday: chest/triceps/delts
Tuesday: rest
Wednesday: legs/abs
Thursday: rest
Friday: back/biceps
Saturday: rest
Sunday: rest

Also, I know I'm a finecky little bastard who keeps changing crap up, but I'm gonna start cutting again. I'm at 166 right now, and when I look in the mirror, the gut just kills me. As such, this will be the last week of my bulk. I'm not going to say that I'm cutting to such and such weight or bf%, because I cop out everytime I say that. I'm just going to cut until I'm pleased with my appearance, or until I get tired of it again. This time, I'm going to be a little more effective about it. Going to start with a simple caloric deficit, wait til I stagnate, throw in cardio, stagnate, then ECA.

Where's those pics of your tatoo? I keep thinking I'm going to get one but I have to decide on what first. I have a general idea but I'm not quite sure yet. This is gonna be my last post in this journal. My last chest/back day was pretty much a repeat of last week +/- a few reps here in there, nothing spectacular. Yesterday's leg/abs day was a total f*cking waste. I went to the gym, started off with 2 full sets of 205 SLDLs which got me pumped. Did some 275lbs rack DL's with a 15 second lockout, and was feeling great. Went to do squats, and I saw literally 5 people, ALL on cellphones, surrounding one guy doing curls at the squat rack. No biggie, I can come back, right?

Wrong. I went to go do abs while I waited for the trendy partyboys to finish their jerkfest at the rack, so I set my notebook and stuff by the decline bench for crunches, and scampered off to grab some 40 lbs DBs for my crunches. As I lifted my leg to saddle up the bench, this old guy literally jumps in front of me and onto my bench. My jaw literally dropped. I dropped my DB's, got right in the guys face, and screamed "EXCUSE ME MOTHER F*CKER" loud enough for the entire gym to hear. I grabbed my crap and left. I can't remember the last time I got that furious.

On that note, I'm done with this journal. Gonna start a new one when my new routine starts, which will hopefully go into effect tomorrow. Thanks to everyone who read this journal, your support is more appreciated than you know.
